Guys, does anyone of you know any runner who can help to save my car tinting from being torn by Puspakom inspectior for transfer of ownership. Please share. Thank you.

I don't know the phone number of any runners, but when I sold my car, the buyer wanted to do a mobile inspection instead of an inspection at the
puspakom headquarters. He was willing to pay for it, ($140) so I agreed.
The buyer claimed that the mobile inspection guys were more lenient and could be "reasoned" with, if the inspection failed due tinting.
The inspection could also be done in the bright sunlight, (up to you to park your car in the sun, it's a mobile inspection team, they will come to wherever your car is parked)
which some claim increase the chances of passing the tinting test.

However, the inspection passed, and there was no "reasoning" required on the buyers part.
So all of his theories remain untested.

If you so desire, you may book the mobile inspection team through the puspakom telephone number.
I believe some lead time is required, they call to set up an appointment.

All the best with your inspection.
Sorry was unable to help with the runner phone number.

Thank you for the information. I did not know there is a mobile inspection service. Let me discuss this with the buyer if he is willing to share some of the cost. I think there is some logic to this. It's definitely more difficult to help at Puspakom centre as there are too more eyes around unlike at the customer's place. Anyone else has a better suggestion. Please help. Thank you

I did mine in Seremban - passed no issue.
I did another one in Bt Caves - same tint (WINGARD) - even before inspection, the guys said not allowed.
I did another one in Seremban - double tint - no issue !!!

Seremban not that far .... i guess its worth to drive there ... i myself looking for it too

When transfer of ownership, car need to go for Puspakom inspection and window tinting is one of the many things that puspakom check for compliance to their so call strict standards. They will tear away your window tinting before they inspect the glass for light transmission. Unless if bear glass, almost all window tinting that does a decent job in keeping your car cool will fail the test including reputable brands. It will cost $$$ to replace the tint.

Runner is the person who can "reason" with the authorities with some under-the-table monetary arrangement. Some of the tints today offers great heat protection but the VLT is way below the allowed rate which us 70% for windscreen and 50% for the sides.

My car came with 40% VLT all around.

..but what is 'trouble' to have tinted windshields so they tearing it apart ?? I dont understand that ??

Like wht splee has mentioned, most of the branded tint nowadays normally fails the VLT test.

Anyway, I was told once that some shops may actually replace the tint for free if the warranty actually covers against it ie. 100% JPJ-compliant.

Bro Wingzee, for your info JPJ compliance does not mean Puspakom compliance. Many reputable brands only guarantee for JPJ compliance and not for Puspakom. So, they will not replace for you free.

Perhaps can try to enquire from windscreen shop to 'loan' their clear windows for puspakom check. Ofcoz only if the fees is much lower with the tinting replacement fees

..i still dont understand, whats so critical about tinted windshields so puspakom or whoever, is so hard on to that..

If say the tint was torn during a random JPJ inspection/roadblock, installer would replace it for free isn't it? If the tint was torn duing Puspakom inspection, one can always claim that it's done by JPJ, which then can be claimed from the installer, no?

Even if you're confident that your tint will pass and tell them to fail you if it is not, they will still insist that you tear it off. In short, PUSPAKOM is just being a fussy lot.
