restraint system fault

hello guys,

need some help..
my e60 2004 gimme this error for quite some time already.
workshop quotes me sgm (safety gateway module) 2nd hand for rm2+++ or new around 5k.
do u know where can i get cheaper solution?
sometime i cant press horn or any button at my steering..

Your description sounds like a slip ring problem.

Basically its a system of transferring the wire connection from the buttons/airbag in your rotating steering to the stationary steering rack. Maybe this connection is going bad, its gone for the airbag (hence the SRS warning sign) and its on the way out for the connections for the other buttons.

Investigations like this, normally I leave to our trusted mechanic at Vixxx Customs behind Giant Batu Caves.
