question on 318 is engine and manual tranny for my car

i would like to ask something ... i was told that 318is engine can just cut and paste in to my m43 e36 318 engine bay and no need to modify anything . and the cost of the engine kosong is rm 2800 + 800 for installation izit reasonable or expansive ? one more question .m43 318 manual tranny how does it cost in the kedai potong (the whole set ). so can sifu here give some idea about this thanks ....

Great... finally, found someone who share the same destiny in beefing up a m43 e36 318... Btw, was quoted RM4k++ to perform a full manual tranny conversion (incl the rear diff)... That's excl a trade-in of the current Auto trans...

bro i know 6 potter is definate the best choice in terms of power and full satisfaction but it really cost a bomb futhermore is no easy in the jpj side to do that i belive.and also is so hard to find a manual tranny for a m50b25 engine these days ...

i called up a work shop and ask about manual tranny , they say have to find takes time , and i can sell my current auto tranny for rm 3000 to others. is that true ? and he qouted me that for the manual tranny is about rm 3500 complete set including installation ....still not sure about chop shop price ....

I am also interested and I think the price is ok.
One shop in Chan Sow Lin quote me higher.

for the m43 convert to m42 , he is the one use to work in chan used part in jalan puchong , now he open a one chop shop by himself jadi boss now . he is located along the kampung subang road next to the old airport runway .

for the manual transmission , any one want to swap tranny ? if you feel sick of driving manual becoz kl traffic jam call me i love to swap .....

if you are running on m43, the proper upgrade path will be M44. It will fit exactly as the m43 replacement. However, why change when it's ain't broken.

not really that way. The later batch of M42 share a lot of similar parts including the belting system. Both still on OBD1.
M44 is running OBD 2 and MAF.

in terms of mod potential, M42 is better.

fabian if im not mistaken you are having this m42 engine in your e30 how is the power if the m42 in my e36 ?
