To me, it sounds like alot. I do not think it is fair priced unless off course it is in mint, buy and drive condition. Beware that a standard 728 of that same age if not in the best of conditions will set you back about 20k in costs....

Difference between E46 and E38 susah to compare la. One is super luxury and the other somewhat like go-kart. It all depends on what you wanna use the 38 for.

My humble opinion, there are many E38 728's out there for sale...go look for a nice one. Easy to maintain, reliable and many on the forum to share experiences and troubleshoot.

My 2 cents worth.

All the best!

thats too much.. a fair price around 45.. a good price.. around 40. What you really wanna achieve is a car at good restored condition at 60K. ssman is quite accurate to point out that it will take you at least 20K to make your car to look good and feel good.

i spend like 40k within 2 months. Anyway, for a 735i 1997 I think the price should be 40k or less. Unless the car is in Tip Top Condition. Send your car to Mechanic for checking before confirm the purchase. Here are some items to check:-

1. Radiator & the host
2. Catalyst Converter
3. Brake Disc
4. Dead Pixels on the display cluster and radio display
6. Test all electronic making sure it works
7. Test the electric chair and memory seat feature
8. Make sure the speedometer is working - Can be expensive to repair if ABS faulty
9. Make sure the suspension is ok
10. Ask when the parts replaced:- Water Pump
11. Check coolant reservoir leakage
12.

Can't think of more to write now. All the E38 bro, please help add more to the list.

Bro, getting a 7 or any used Bimmer is not a decision for the faint of heart.

Sometimes got people opt to go for the cheaper ones, but spare lotsa money and passion and time to refurbish and get it up to tip top condition.

For others, they prefer the get the best that their money can buy.

Our SSMANN bro is one shining example. Even Digital Punk said he set aside almost RM 40K in repairs alone to fix everything on his E38.

E38 got 728i, 730i, 735i, 740i, 750i... And not discounting the iL versions. Some even got Vanos and double Vanos... I'm just a noob when it comes to these terms though.

Don't forget about the roadtax too... Killer.

Kay G..

Do drop by our TT at Papparich Section 19 on Fri nites..9pm onwards..there'll definitely be a couple of E38 owners there & u can have a look at their rides, discuss about their experiences before you embark on a project like this.

A wrong move can set you back quite a fair bit & seriously, I've been guided by a lot of the club members in owning & maintaining a Beemer with the least hassle & heartache..not to mention saving my pocket too from unscrupulous mechs out to make a killing just because u drive a Beemer..

And not to mention enjoy the camaredie of fellow BMW lovers..:burnout:

Cheers :)
