Petrol smell from rear tyres

Hi Guys,

Anyone ever faced this problem of petrol smell coming from the rear tyres?...the left one to be exact. Two days ago I noticed strong presence of fuel smell under my porch....surprise surprise...it can be traced straight to my 16 months old 328i...

Sent to Ingress this morning and they need 3 days to do the necessary checking...understandable as they need to take out the fuel tank to have a closer look...normal checking did not revealed the culprit...aiyoo soooo sad....

small issue/ leaks at the fuel filter... no biggy. normally just need to tighten or change o ring

I had that issue, there was a small leak at the fuel line there.

this is serious! what happens if somebody smokes near your car? i hope the problem is addressed and rectified quickly. i have to check mine too just in case.

It has always been my practice to fill my tank till full...can that be the cause?...

Do you mean we are not suppose to fill up fully? Or do you mean we are not to overfill?

If the petrol smell happen when fully fill up the tank, then better we don't do that again.

Guys...it been confirmed by SC that there is a small leakage at the fuel tank itself...parts ordered but fingers crossed....it will only be available tomorrow afternoon....4 days already in SC and no courtesy car....

if the smell is only present when u fill up the tank full... u are in luck.. easy fix.. the breather line which connects the tank and the fill pipe. usually its jut a rubber 10mm hose.
