Replied to you on the other thread, quick question as well, I was told that the ECU here was hard to crack hence there aren't any remaps available? Either that I was told that the software is not stable (causing limp modes). Have you found anyone who has a branded remap for the 320d? I really couldn't find any off the web, only managed to find piggyback boxes such as Vector, DTUK, RaceChip, etc..etc..

The 320d up to 9/ 2008 can be remapped through the obd socket
After 9/2008 you will find most 320d will have anti tuning software
This will need the ecu to be flashed on the bench/table using boot mod
This will require the ecu to be opened and a boot wire connected to the board
2 lives 1 earth 1hi can and 1 low can wires connected to the pins on the outside of the ecu
The ecu can then be read and wrote to

Anyone here has the kit for that? Previously I did the same with my VW's ECU. Saw the APR guys go through the same process

The last time I checked the BMW Performance Upgrade it involved a new turbo intercooler and a new cooling fan as well as a remap. They also give it a check on a dynamometer before and after. This naturally will come out at a lot more than £300 to £400 for a remap. I would suggest that this is worth it if you are going to spend prolonged periods at high power levels such as track days but not if you are just going use the power occaisionally.

Your insurance will get hiked, but there could be a concession if BMW have done the work.

Hope this helps
Bill

rattlesnake .. u have got the performance kit done right?

i have done mine and enjoying every bit of it..

lately, i added HP+... a weird box hard to explain, but i am getting more torque, quieter engine...a dn smoother rev all the way to redline without running out of breath.. even smoothen the suspension.. gave up on figuring how it works, but it works

The larger intercooler is a good item to have. Forge sells their version (slightly larger than the BMW Performance intercooler) for around USD$2k :( :( :(

hi there

I own a e46 320d 2002 model, just recently remove the swirl flaps and replaced the EGR with the bypass type, replace existing filter with K&N type and yesterday I just install the performance tuning chip, feel more power and quick acceleration even going uphill. Soon, try DIY remap my ecu and install decat pipe.
