Dear all BMW members,I am currently thinking of buying my booss BMW 523i -1996. He is selling at 97K. the mileage is 145K so far. He is a very "jaga kereta punya orang". As I am new to BMW cars, I would like to hear the opinion of those usign the BMW 5 series (all the sifus) such as problems that the owner encounters, fuel comsuption, maintenance charges and spare partsThank you very much for the precious opinion. Maybe this could help me to decide whether to buy it or not.-Darkquest

Got a 1998 CBU one for RM90k recently. You be the judge. Make sure you get the full service history from your boss.

bro darkquest, tekan yr boss for 80 plus bro unless the car has been modded with 18" rims, M5 skirting and etc........

hmmm..i turned down the offer already.. although he changed almost every spare parts for the car, but the gearbox still remains the same. 10 Years old car...hmmm...anything can happen to the engine and gear box.

If anything happens to the gear box and engine, I will sure suicide one. :D .

Btw, anyone here can recommend me a good used 5 series or 3 series prefarbably year 2001 onwards. I mean those good and reliable second hand car dealer or maybe the owner themself. Sometime I just really afraid of buying it form the second hand car dealer as you need to consider a lot of things.

Really would like to own a BMW..hahahahhaa..

TQ

Oh and yes. BUY THE 5 series!!! no regrets. I take the long way back from work now. The little extra I pay in maintainence is well worth it.

Cheers!!!

darkquest,
opp and others are correct! E39 is an excellent car despite the age. Will "embarass" the new Accord or Camry............
E39 has won many awards in the past and I believe they can't be wrong over the years! Personally, it's an excellent car (overall package), build quality solid & superb NVH, high comfort level & good handling and its driving dynamics. Plus reasonable fuel consumption. Power wise (depending of which engine capacity/model) will not take off like the Volvo T5 but adequate for most occasions!

i agreed wit jerman darkquest, in fact no regret of changing yr irde to 5 series bro, good luck man......

Thank you very much everyone.

OPP, I prefer those year 2001 and above. 1998, still quite old lar.. Anyway, thanks a lot.

Pls feel free to drop in your recomendation to me as I am still looking for one. :)

TQ

dude,

Just buy. You will not regret at all. When you wind up the windows , turn on some nice soft music, it will just be you and your BMW on the open road.

Shite. I need to get into my car for a ride now!!!!
