hi all,i recently took my 2007 335i to an on-wheel dyno test.. d test was quite consistent but disappointing..i've read that the result is supposed to be 308bhp and 400NM..but mine was only 280bhp@5600-5700rpm & 390NM@3500rpm..is it normal to have reduced horsepower and torque over the years? how can i recover while maintaining stock car?hope to hear from you 335 sifus out there.. thanks..

308bhp is quoted power at crank and 400Nm is torque AT CRANK...
for dyno results, it's usually showed power and torque AT WHEEL which is ALWAYS lower than power at crank due to drive train loss.... about 15-20%...

So if your dyno results is at the wheel, then it's actually more than stock figure...
But if the dyno extrapolate to give you the 'so-called' power at crank, don't bother. There's no way to know EXACTLY how much drivetrain loss it has cos every car will have a different percentage of loss. The only way to get exact output at crank is to take the engine out of the car and bolt on directly to those dyno machines at the factory which measured output at crank.

Also it depends on the dyno machine as well ... As different dyno's gives out different output based on their own method's of calculations :D

I see.. So, if I do any changes to the stock car, then it makes sense to go back to the same dyno place.. Then, u'd hv an effective increase to base from, which is more reliable..

Good enough to know that 308bhp&400Nm are on crank..

Thanks guys.. :D

Yes, different dyno machine at different place will give u slightly different results. And also dependent on how often the machine is recalibrated. But if you want to see before and after results, it's best to go back to the same place,

also RON 95 and 97 will give different readings. Even between fuel brands, but not much.

280 over quoted 308 is just below 10% loss!! that's quite efficient, unless the actual crank figure is higher. German manufacturers tend to give conservative figure.

I agree wit Mun. 10% loss is out of this world amazing!

I reckon at crank it's gotta be 320hp and loaaaaaadddssss of torque.

Don't bother taking it out at dyno the baby. Just push start, hit DS and :burnout::burnout::burnout:

I was at GT auto and there are a few 335i's that push 311++hp and 540wtq. These cars mostly have JB3, DP, DCI, and complete exhaust. Another push out 335whp and 560wtq but no mod details.

Cheers,
NewB
