oil leaking problem

My E39 525i, m54 is losing oil, 1.5 lit every 1000km, it is getting unbearable. Sent to the mechanic and was told of a long list of possibility that need replacement...crap.I decided to DIY, suspect oil filter housing is leaking at the block & probably the dipstick o ring need replacement too.I will try to take some photos to share later , this is the first time i am going to do this, wish me luck.

managed to removed the air filter box, the belt and next removed the alternator, can see more clearly now, leak is bad

got it, thanks, here r the pictures

air filter box, alternator removed-

oil filter housing removed, bad leak

oil filter housing:

oil filter housing-after cleaning, note: i seal the hole with tape while cleaning with brake cleaner

cause of leak, hard and brittle seal, i broke it while removing the seal

since you've open those oil filter housing ...same time you might as well change those 10cent seals too ..

refer to my lattest leaks pictures ..only lasted a year ...

Bro, did u post the wrong link, i didn't see any post abt your car's oil leak problem
