Gearbox Oil Pump Leak

Sifus,My gearbox oil pump is starting to leak. I was informed that the whole gearbox need to be taken out just to replace the oil pump and other acc. I was quoted RM3k ++ for the parts and labour. Is this right? Anyone cares to advice?Tq

Changing your gearbox oil pump is the same as overhauling your gearbox. When the pump fails your clutch will not function. My advise is to overhaul the gear box since you are going to change the pump. The pump alone cost about RM1500. What model is your ride

My is 525 2000. Just overhauled my gearbox last 2 years. No problem with the gearbox just that leaking on the oil pump. Cost me RM7K++. I dont think need to overhaul again...

No need to overhaul to GB if the aux pump is leaking.

However, you need to dismantle the GB from the engine in order to change the pump.

The cost should be about this amount:-
1. New pump - @RM1500
2. New ATF - @400 to 550
3. Labour - @ RM600

change GB mounting as well and also check the torque converter sleeve. If it is worn out, there would be also leak.

Did mine in Klang when my E46 Aux pump leak. It is somewhere off jalan Goh Hock Road.

Mane of shop is Hi-tech..

bushing is less than RM100 but torque is converter is >RM1000. Got a second hand for about RM800.

So far no issue with the GB after 1 year.

RM7K? Are u serious? Is this normal? My gearbox not much problem now but if thats the cost, maybe I shud start saving now, hahahaaaa.

It was true bro. I did it in Kepong in early 2008. Dont know now.

It all depends on the damaged found. If it is just the aux pump, then about 2 days.

Mine took about a week cos after reinstall back the pump, there was some leak which was traced to the
torque converter sleeve worn out. Took about 2 days to find a good re-con parts.

But I was in no hurry as I use my spare car.
