Hi bros/sisLike many new F30 owners, I aint too pleased with the service center determined service schedule of 30000 km per oil change. I also do not have a personal preference for Helix fully synthetic oils which comes with the BSRI. Understand Mobil 1 used to be provided until Mobil stations disappeared in M'sia.I'd like to use my own determined engine oil & additive eg based on the schedule below (for illustration):-A - at 10,000km : own oil + own additiveB - at 20,000km : own oil + own additiveC - at 30,000km : free BSRI (Helix fully synth) + own additive (put after balik rumah)D - loop back to A etcAppreciate it if you could point me to a trust worthy/professional place to get my engine oil changed, ideally in Cheras / KL area - I'll pay for the service / 'corkage' etc etc as I am using my own engine oil. Most importantly, is there a way that AutoBav can find out that I've been doing oil change 'outside' the BSRI and invalidate my 'warranty' etc ? A friend was saying I need to check that for F30, whether the nut for the oil change is a one off use nut or a re-useable one. If it is one off use - habislar, no choice have to go to Autobav for A, B & D above (but use Helix).May I assume there is no issue on choice of engine oil & additive for N20 petrol engine with the turbo etc etc ? Many thanksAT-Sixx

I am sending my car for the 6000 service at ingress.
then ill be doing 12 000 under bsri .. then rinse and repeat .

im kinda paranoid. 6000 seems like the most i will go .. at least until i see what kind of oil they are using in the car.

Agreed, 30k for an oil change is absurd. Heck, am sending mine right after hitting 2k for a post break in service. At every 10k intervals after that. Wouldn’t want to take any chances on voiding the warranty, so am sending my ride to SC, and sure do hope they use Castrol as recommended in the owner’s manual. It was also mentioned in the manual that no additives is to be added as it might damage the engine.

6000/oil change is a happy situation if i were the engine ! cheers

am not sure if castrol is the oil theyd use. was told by sc that it's all helix now. do update us here whatever the case

yeah, the manual will not encourage anything added to the engine oil bcos their legal liability will be high as who knows what some people put in the engine oil hehe

cheers

I sent back to Ingress for my 3 services but none under BSRI. First service under BSRi is 6700km away.

am trying to avoid that bcos if i send back to service center - they'd use helix which i dont like

Cheers

So far my car has been running very good, smooth and powerful. I change the oil every 6000km - 8000km, so helix or castrol or mobil 1 is OK.

I send back to Ingress because I want to keep my car service records, peace of minds and of course, warranty.

I send mine to AB every 5000Km and like Bro Siuloong mentioned "Because i want to keep my Car Service records, Peace of Mind and of course WARRANTY"

Bro Ray - am not hot on Helix, just feel it is 'thinner' and not as lasting as Mobil1. Frankly, was thinking of switching to Torco (engine oil & additive) make instead.

Bro SL85 - you got a point there given 6000-8000km service interval. I could consider doing 10000km interval but put my own engine oil additive - that's also a viable option.

cheers

Thanks Bro Val - for me 5000km a bit too regular and inconvenient time wise but perhaps could handle it at 10000km intervals. Not a cost issue for me but it still doesnt make me feel better that the BSRI is at 30000km/ service - con job IMHO. Aduh !

Since my BSRI jobs are at 15,000km intervals, I alternate them with a mid-way oil change. I get mine done at Optimum, like the one i'm gonna do this Saturday; odo shud be about 37,500km then.

For my next oil change, contemplating to try Liqui Moly Top Tec fully syn + Liqui Moly Motor Protect additive.

Bro Miz - since youre going to Optimum, could i trouble you to check with the people there how much they'd charge for oil change service but i provide the engine oil ie my own. Not many places do this so appreciate the update from you much

Bro Ray - thanks for sharing these alternative oil brands hehe

Hi Bro mizhan, do you mind letting me know where is Optimum eh? I have been looking for a place to service my 320d outside BSRI but I'm not sure where to find a reliable service centre.
Also, do you know how they charge for their services? I still have 6x4litre Castrol Edge 5w-40 Fully Syn I'm hoping I can use it for my car. :) Appreciate your advise! Thanks!

I'm sorry.. I won't recommend you bring your own parts/lube if you don't know them personally. I also can't quote their price as I receive a substantial discount there.

No worries bro - appreciate the update !

I think most workshops wont chase you out if you bring your own oil, maybe they will charge more for the labour.
Generally labour cost can be up to RM50 for engine oil + oil filter change + resetting OBC; but in your case need not reset OBC bcoz the change is outside the suggested interval.

The estimated sum of RM50 is what so called outside BMW 'specialist workshop' will charge; other regular workshops will be cheaper.

Thanks Bro Ray. Is there a list of BMWClub 'approved specialist workshops' that I can refer to ?

Cheers
