imeasured the bulb and its 3ohms..measured the led socket and its 8kohms...hence the error...if I juct connect a bulb like what someone posted, the problem is solved but bear in mund that the bulb gets hot and in an enclosed enviroment with plastic, it's dangerous. I'm opting for resistor..

John, did you measure the resistance with the bulb removed from it socket? Sorry to ask you this silly question cos the resistance of a 5W bulb should be higher.

3 ohms is like for 50Watt bulb.

hayahhhh...my fluke 87 mark II needs calibration..checked with my analogue meter and it reads 12ohms

guys,
u all experiencing the error code about changing the ori bulb to LED type? i dont have this prob, dont know why. I bought the bulb from brothers which cost me rm28 for 2.

did you also change the right side? i.e. both side to LED. Maybe the car is already disable for the license plate same like mine when I check the setup for the light module.

New type LED bulbs, normally marked CANBUS compatible already includes the required resistor in the LED circuit. no need to do anything else. just put the LED bulb in.

jarance..so how many ohms resistor should I add and how many watts?

I use 200ohms for disable my front small light coz i installed angel eye.
200ohm resistor 5 cents each at pasar road.

New Flash!!

OK, for the rear camera installation, this is what I found.
1. There are two bulbs for the Licence Plate.
If you install the rear camera, you will need to remove one of the bulb and connect the camera LED to it.
This will not cause any alarm on the instrument cluster. This is because the LCM (Light Control Module) will
still detect the presence of the second bulb. They are wired in parallel.

If you decide to change the other bulb to LED, you will get the alarm on the dashboard.
There are 3 solutions to this problem.
a. change to LED that are CANBUS compactible.
b. Disable the monitoring by using an programmer for the LCM module.
c. Add a resistor to the LED light.
I have tested the resistor value and 1000 ohms will cancel the alarm.

Power = V X V / R (Voltage Square divide by Resistance) = 144/1000 = 0.15 watt.
Hence a 10 sens resistor would be suitable. i.e. 1000ohms/0.25 watt. or half watt if you are the kiasu type.

will try for front pilot light later. stay tune for the result.

Jarance bro,
As for the resistor, higher ohms=higher watts issit? will higher ohms produce less heat?

Jarance sorry but my hands are itchy and want to answer this

bks, no higher ohms doesn't mean higher watts. Resistor with the same ohms (resistance) is available at different watt (power) ratings. A correct combination need to be formulated basing on which value that works.

Higher ohms will produce less heat (energy dissipation) at the same voltage. Because the higher the resistance the less current will flow.

Example we take 12V as the reference

Jarance use 1kohm to silence the warning, you use 220ohm.

Power dissipation calc, P = V*V/R
Jarance - (12)(12)/1000 = 0.144W (only need quarter watt resistor)
BKS - (12)(12)/220 = 0.655W (need 1 watt resistor)

At the same voltage, higher resistance means less watt for the resistor. Just trying to help, hope this makes sense.

Cheers
Aidil

aidil, you are absolutely correct. thanks.

In layman term, the higher the resistance, the lower will be the heat dissipated from the resistor. In term of cost saving, a quarter watt resistor would cost much less than a 1 watt resistor.

I just tested the front High beam pilot light with a 1Kohm resistor with the bulb removed. There was no alarm generate.

When I removed the resistor, the alarm came ON at the dashboard. Reconnect it back, the alarm was still there.
OFF the engine and switch back ON, the alarm reset by itself.

I just replaced my old 220ohms,0.25watt a 1Kohms,1watt resistor. Dont feel any heat from the resistor now and no error code.

Thanks Jarance and aidilj.

Any sifu there can share the diagram how to put the resistor? My current wiring is tap parallel to the existing standard wiring.

anybody try NDrive ver 10 on their DD player?

I have try it and it almost the same as iGo. Lagging is about 1 seconds as compare to papago of 6 seconds.

Someone asked me:

- Is the audio output in RCA socket or to speaker wires?
- I have P Amp hooked up, does it have a pre-amp built in?
- Does it have special port for sub-woofer connection?

Anyone can help?

Someone asked me:
bmw7833..

- Is the audio output in RCA socket or to speaker wires?
Both are available. The standard socket connect the standard speaker which make plug and play.
RCA are also available for external amplifier connection (see picture below red and white)

- I have P Amp hooked up, does it have a pre-amp built in?
Actually like a small in-built amplifier which can be use.

- Does it have special port for sub-woofer connection?
Yes there is a sub woofer RCA outlet for centre portion. see below.

yea...iGo lagging is still acceptable, but papago is too much...
but unfortunately iGo map is not as good as papago map & papago graphics are much better too..

any screenshot on Ndrive? n how about the map itself?

anyway, i also have Garmin.. i have 3 running, papago, igo n garmin...for the map, i just use the same map that i use for my windows mobile hp.
