Hi There,Im new here and own a 328i, would like to know what is the common FC the member here..My 328i, Just normal driving in town, 58liter = 450km only... High way (KL - Ipoh - Penang), 54liter = 560km...are this consider hight or just normal...Please share...

bro 450km is considered on the good side already. that means mechanically and sensor wise the previous owner have kept it tip top

Indeed, the previous owner overall do well keep on the car... But when I receive the car, it was underpowered... Just feel the power after changing the crank & cam sensor...

Now I have doubt on do I need to change the vanos seal... Since I dont feel anything wrong on the engine currently...

change what ever you feel deemed to bring back ya car to glory ..if possible attack the water cooling system ...

Vanos seal its not about something wrong with the engine. Its more of giving back the power to your engine. Unless your previous owner has change it already.

Like what iceman says look into upgrading the cooling system. most people always tends to neglate that area which is actually the most important area.

Also from combine experience of two identical 328, some of the nuts and bolts might need to check and replaced. especially the bolts holding the oil filter. that is a whole assembly which connects to your tensioner bearing. And it can break due to metal fatigue.

look into replacing the PCV as well. this has 2 hose and grommet in it. should do wonders to your fuel consumption.

Something which my dad explains. Why do you think when they service airplane engine they replace all the bolts and nuts? :p

cheers

for me i normally get around 480 to 520km for town but never got around to h/way long distance driving.

by the way i m looking at selling my 1997 E36, can anyone help me where i can properly post it in this forum?

Cooling system is all the piping from and between the radiator to your engine. basically all the rubber based hose would give way due to age.
If can afford silicon based pipe of course would be best.
Also the thermostat cover on our M52B28 is made from plastic. If can replace with aluminium one which highly recommend mod by all e36 forums the world over :p

With regards to pcv this article says all that is needed.
