1st step: The underbelly

Took the car out to check if any bushings need to be replaced. To my horror, the whole lot has to be replaced. No wonder the car was wobbling side to side on the road. Anyways, here are the pix:-

Exhaust. Dented and rusty. Really horrible condition. Welded the various holes as a temporary measure as I'm thinking of getting an aftermarket exhaust system.

Engine mounting. Completely flattened. No wonder the car emitted a very violent rattle during high revs. Because both mountings were kaput, the engine was so low it made contact with the anti roll bar. Needless to say, during high revs (when the engine vibrates more) both the engine and the anti roll bar bergaduh; making a lot of noise.

Brake disks - all had to be replaced. Machining it summore means it will be as thin as paper. All brake pads had to be replaced too.

All bushings replaced. One of the many pictures of 'restored' parts. Note the two black things - for those who are new to cars, those things are called bushings.

I believe this part is called a Y-rod. I could be wrong though. Anyway, some bushings have to be pumped out by a hydraulic tool. The one in the picture needed pumping.

More pictures will be uploaded when the entire underbelly of the car has been fixed so stay tuned! =) Planning to send the car to restore the underbelly (dents, scratches and anti-rust). Anyone know where is a good place to go? Good workmanship is paramount.

One more thing, has anyone heard of Boge Automatic Absorbers? My car has those absorbers installed. What's the story on these absorbers?

Actually, this thread should no longer be named 'Potential E36 owner in need of help =)' it should be named ''94 E36 325i restoration project'. Can the moderators do something about it? I've tried changing the title of the thread but apparently the forum does not allow it.

Managed to get my hands on new old aircon vents =)

New long shaft coupling and rear wheel bearings.

Anyway, does anybody know where is a good place for anti rusting? One more thing, i noticed my engine is shaky and jerky. Changed the spark plugs but still the same thing is happening off and on. Sometimes I can't even start the engine without help from a jump start from another car. I've narrowed down the cause to these few things:-

1) Suppressors?
2) Plug cables?
3) Any sensors?
4) Fuel pump? - this is unlikely because if the fuel pump is failing then the car won't even accelerate.
5) ...or could it be the car battery?

Any opinions will be greatly appreciated =)

Try cleaning the idle control valve. Could also be a problem with the coils, old already maybe.

Solution!!

Hey guys found out what was causing the shaking and jerking of the engine. Turns out that one of the fuel injectors was not firing. Changed it and voila! BRRROOOOOMMM!

Anyway, more pix for you guys to enjoy:-
