Yes rims are ugly.
But the most pressing thing right now is to treat the rusts around the bottom edges for the front windscreen and rear window (inside the rubber, can the bubbling paint and rubber meaning corrosion has started).

Then windows tint job and of course a good stereo as the original blaupunkt is now dead.

congrats on this project. it doesn't look like it requires a total restoration. just get all mechanicals sorted and enjoy driving it.
The car drives like a dream now.

Except when braking at speeds around 80kmh to 100kmh the steering will wobble quite a bit.

Maybe just the E39 rims causing this as the centre cone is bigger in diameter..thanks to Vincent for suggesting this.I hope this is the problem.....

Else I am looking at front discs, lower arms and perhaps some steering parts?

glad to hear you're enjoying it. anyway on my E34, the wobble was usually caused by worn arm bushes; the ones they make now seldom last longer than a year on a daily driver. worn discs will normally make your brake pedal judder.

Zib, did M1 sort out your odometer? If not give a call to Siew. He can help you arrange that.

No they didn't.

I will sort this one out after the rust has been sorted.

Thanks

As of today update most of the car is sorted now. Brakes are ok no more judder.

Absorbers are new all 4 corners. The odometer now works except that I can't reset the tripmeter but that's a small matter.

I have ordered new expansion tank as I had a major coolant loss but it turned out to be the cap. I hav replaced it with the one fitted to the E30 and it is now ok. But since I have ordered will install the new parts once they arrive.

I have also ordered the rubber gasket below the front windscreen and the fusebox from ebay.

My aircond switches are also sorted by SSG car cooler Kuchai Lama (via Albert WP). No more school van type aircond switches except that the temp dial is now pointing the other way (max cool is off and max red is coldest haha). The blower fan speed came from the E36 said SSG with 3 speed steps unlike the original E24 with smooth variable speed but that's ok as long as the ac does its job.

Next would be the rusts repair along the front and rear windscreens. I have asked around and since it is not really major and no leaks I maybe able to delay this work.

But the seats leather cover is what I need to do. I have been quoted close to 4k to do the full interior re-upholstery.

I have also found another complete E24 interior with electric front seats (mtec) in white complete with OBC (mine is lower spec so didn't come with one) and dashboard. But the leather is in white.Going for slightly more so I may consider that option.

Others are the front passenger power windows motor which can go anytime as it is getting stucked sometimes. Not sure if part is available new. Will check with maximilian US.

Future work will include engine rebuild, new coat of paint and new alloys if budget permits.

Cheers all.
