A long overdue project ...finally arrived today.

After the recent new 'shoes', this is the next best thing to have for a 'new' feel of the ride!

Cool & cost effective way to bypass customs, seller must be cooperative here.

Haha I think we bought from the same seller. I bought my SMG steering from that guy in March and he declared the same amount for me too. Although the value for mine is about USD975 (including new slip ring and SMG kit).

Nice.

Congrats! Pls post pixs here! Is your ride in carbon black with red interiors?

It's not exactly stock up lar...Just got them change so tarak breakdown tengah jalan lar..paiseh ma!

Depends on year/mileage of your ride. Change according to the manual should be fine.

Thanx, it's just a normal M3 not like some souped up Ms out there :)

There's no better time than now to own one as the pricing of them are more affordable compared with a couple years ago. M cars are built significantly tougher and their parts don't really wears out as often as normal road going cars. However, they do conform to the usual wear & tear replacement issues.

Generally, it's not really an expensive car to own. There are common parts that are shared with their other BMW siblings, so these parts should come relative cheap. Only parts like lower arm, fuel pump etc are some of the items that are not shared. So, if one would pick up an M3 in the used market today make sure these hard to come by items have or already been changed by the previous owner. Otherwise, don't take chances (avoid breaking down) get them changed (as per manual/KMs lifespan) as these parts are not stock by many shops. E.g. if you have a fuel pump failure, it might take weeks/month for it to be delivered.

Best is, take the car for a complete visual inspection & diagnose for any wear & tear or fault/error that might appear on the system. Items like brake rotors and pads are some of the items you should oso take note of. The S54 engine is built tough, unless it's been wrongly maintained or abused it should not coz much problem. I;ve read some of them have travelled more than 300K kms and still running strong. You can read more from M3forum.net or from the Maddrussian guy.

Road tax is approx RM3.2K. Insurance depends on the amount insured and your prevailing NCDs. This is a very addictive car, it wants you to drive it fast. Hence, FC could play a major part here.

Good luck hunting!

Thanks for your info bro... Should no regret to own it, only monthly installment, roadtax and insurance ! Muahahhahaha....
What i worry is SMG, the actuator pump. I owned a Alfa 156 selespeed before, the coast for me to repair the car, almost i can pay half of the car price ! :( sigh... Any idea about SMG maintenance ? How much for the cost to replace the clutch ?

How about the pump bro ? The clutch caring is like normal manual clutch vehicle? How long the lifespan ?

The pump i heard it was about RM 5k availble from UK. Dont quote me on that. If i am not mistaken clutch life 60000 kms its recommended to change

NKOTB : 26th how ? TT?

The other thing to note is the recall for the issues on the con-rod bearings. It involves certain number of unit produce within a period. Do check if the ride you have in mind had done the repair if it falls in the affected period. Google is your friend here.

SMG worries? Go stick! :)

Thanks bro.. I think the con-rod bearings if those 2002 or below models right? My aiming unit is 2006 May manufacturing, nearly stop production, unless they cincai produce then i got nothing to say..
If the clutch can last 60k KM ok what, at least i pay 1 time, can last me so long.. keke..

Bro, you all got M's TT can i join? But i don't have any BMW..
