I've just install mtech 2 front bumper 2 to my pre-facelift sedan. the problem is the bumper seem to be a bit flared out on the side and doesn't flush with the fender. so the question is, is it normal or the shop done a sloppy job in installing the bumper?FYI, i got the bumper from a chop shop. i attached the picture describing my question. thanks sifus in advance

Not sure if it is a compatibility issue of your pre-face lift with the mtech 2 but this should not happen. Suggest to back to them to fix it..

bro, does this happen to both sides? or just that side only?

replace the stock bracket with the m tech bumper bracket, i replace mine before and the bracket won't fit in which similar case like yours

Pls correct me if I'm wrong, I was just doing some research into this bumper fitment myself and haven't started the DIY part on it.... I think the issue here is kind of complicated. First of all, is the bumper an original M-sport bumper for the facelift E46? If it is, the way of mounting is very different.

The pre-facelifted e46 has screws & bolts at the fender, undercarriage and two large hex bolts in the middle just under the grill:

For facelifted E46, especially the M sport package there might be a reinforcement bar which the bumper holds on to by many plastic rivets:

In addition to that, there might be an additional bracket at the side fender that is meant to hold the facelifted bumper (refer to the last pic):

So you can see, the fitment themselves are very different due to the pre-facelift / facelift & M-sport bumpers. There might be several factors that prevent the bumper from fitting properly, or it might be the broken (or missing) side bracket. You should need some specialist shop to help you modify the mountings if needed... but I found that many workshops commonly dismiss the problem by saying the car too old, mounting crack, etc... they just think it's too troublesome to align the bumper because it takes quite a substantial amount of labour.

bro im getting the same result like last time. SO i also did like what MEL did, replace the stock brakcket with the mpsort one then only it work

If i'm not mistaken..the chop shop already replace the bracket..my 2 sense feel they didnt properly instal it..the bumper didnt slot in the bracket.will have it check this weekend

I did mine lately too (full facelift conversion), heard from my workshop saying that it did need some adjustment and minor modification to make it fit nicely.
Here's mine before & after and I don't have the problem as you mention :

Do you mind sharing which workshop you did the facelift conversion? Looks like they did quite a good job at it!

I'd want them to take a look at mine too cuz the gaps between the lights and bumper are too big...

ok, here some picture of my car being towed today due to broken gearbox oil coolant pipe..i've just done full gearbox overhaul and to come to this is so frustrating..luckily it's still under waranty :102: :102:

Actually my car has changed the whole body part (bumper, fenders, bonnet etc) to new facelift, but I'm not sure is it the old & new fender creating the culprit of your bumper misalignment.
Anyway, you may try checking with the workshop where I did mine, he needs to see your actual car then only can confirm repairable or not. His shop is at Taman Mayang, PJ.

Ha..ha...no, I don't you and so do you, it's Yap told me he knows you.

Try checking the bumper brackets which is at the bumper corner ends. It could be A) missing, B) broken or C) the wrong one being used.
I think there are at least 2 different types of brackets.

Just receive my car with the fixed fitment and was inform that the bumper is already fitted nicely and it is the right bracket. So what they did was drill in some screw to get the right fitment..FYI, the gearbox leakage also has been fixed..here's my handsome car with fixed fitment. Tomorrow will proceed to paint job to get the color tone corrected...cheers
