Dear All, Some one reversed in to my front bumper today and my front bumper has a nice imprint of another car's backside. I can see that the paint has cracked but from my knowledge, there is no hope of repairing the bumper save for a new replacement. I hope the sifus here can give me some recommendation for a good work shop with reasonable price to repair my bumper. My car colour is Monaco Bleu and I have been told not all paint shop have this colour. Thanks in advance.........

Thanks! I do need more clues as to where this shop is and how long did it take to get it done?

Mine is something like this YouTube clip

I am very tempted to do what they do!

If bumper no tear, then very easy, just boil a kettle of hot water, pour at the dent area until the bumper material go soft, then push front the back. If at the same area as the Prius, just open the fog lamp bulb removal door at the inner fender liner and stick your hand in to push. Check first before u boil water.. :4: if not deep scratches, just polish off the paint stain, kao tim.. No need to go to paint shop.. The one I did was, I remove the bumper in the morning, sent it in by 10am, then by 6pm can collect d. Only problem is paint still soft and not encourage to install because fresh paint can easily be damaged.

If hand kenot get in, remove the bumper then. Follow my blog instruction above and the bumper can be taken out in 10min. :4: provided u have the right tools la.. :4:

Then pasang balik lor, hope no pinch mark, better do it fast because the longer u leave it, the pinch mark will become more permanent..

Oh, can use hot air gun if you dowan to boil water.. :4: hair dryer is such waste of time.. LOL! :4:

i remember that tinted shop usually got industry hot air gun blower. its same like our home hair dryer only it is much hotter. mayb you can ask for their help to blow the dent area

Just boil a kettle of hot water will do la.. :4:

After I saw that clip the hot water thing also struck me. Will definitely give it a try since there's nothing to lose. Lol

Had a look just now, the access hole seems to be higher up the wheel arch then lower. The scratch seems worst so a respray should be on the cards. There is a lot of stone chips on the bumper anyway.

Thanks for the tip!

I also found my Sapphire Black touch up paint in the newly reopened 1U ENEOS, about RM21.xx I was staring at the last bottle for a good 10 minutes but didn't pick it up.. the other 2 BMW colors they carry, with plenty of stock are Silver [Titan silver if not mistaken] and Alpine White.

It worked! I poured hot water on the affected area and manage to soften the bumper enough to push it out from the inside. All I had to do was remove about three screws (probably two should be enough but I removed three) to gain access to the inside of the bumper.

Its not a complete fix cause there is still some impression left by the dent. Nothing some bondo can't fix :)

Hmm.... Does the Eneos at 1Utama have monaco blue? Maybe can use that to touch up the rest of the area.

Thanks Astroboy and ezzo369 for the help and encouragement.

Haiya! You didn't tape the process meh?! Can upload YouTube.. :4:

Nope. No Monaco Blue there but a quick search to their website... viola! you are in luck!

Haha... I left a comment there. I was the only person on the job so it wont be easy for me to video record the whole process and do it myself.

It did strike my mind though.....lol!

Seriously, the person who thought of the boiling kettle method was a genius [not me.. :4:], it makes the earlier video u showed looks silly.. :stupid: :4:
