..we all know or at least heard about show called Top Gear..initially, I loved it, really, but very quickly it lost me completely...i may be minority in all this, but what turned me off is same, boring tests (or at least massive majority of tests), taken on wide flat area with few curves but again, very wide and comfortable..reason why Im saying this is that, I feel their reviews are not accurate..for example, every single time i saw they even just mentioning Bugatti Veyron , its always against some other vehicle on flat straight line and keep talking about how good it is (Veyron), while every single person I know, that knows about some real world road and speed, claim that such expensive junk like Veyron, will be beaten up with almost every single mid class racer out there, if you put them in to some normal available road/curves..examples are many, for instance, Range Rover..every time I saw them talking about range Rover, its like everything else is total useless, what is NOT true, because I have had few range rovers and new models are uber crap, just looking good..So having all this, im wondering, what BMW would be able to kick ugly fat Veyron ass , considering that normal road with normal features it has is considered test zone and not some flat, straight line..after i saw how Z4M beat up Dodge Viper soon as it was given opportunity to go in to curved road (even that curved road was idealistic a bit), im really wondering what BMW models would be capable to kick out Veyron under conditions I mentioned (basically real world environment) ??

hmm....I think a Z4m would do nicely. Ecco, I think u need to show us an example of how it's done. hahaha. :D

1M seems to be an ideal weapon of choice. but dont count out the Veyron so easily though. insane tq with 4 wheel drive is not so easily put down.

..well..yeah..I mean, every test they do, when Veyron is concerned is pretty much flat straight line, and i found that rather boring and totally not accurate, soon as you expose some real world curves, results changing massively, as not anymore, dumb pure engine power play role, but whole car as a union of different properties, what actually made car good or bad, far as i can understand..i just found that, whole freak show called Top Gear, pretty much misleading, and traditionally, always favorizing certain brands..look at Nissan GTR..every time its compared with some other vehicle, even GTR beats up that opponent cars they always say 'BUT THIS', 'BUT THAT'..i mean...wtf?? Car shows better performance in curves and all that, than multimilion vehicles , cost fraction of that cars they always favorizing, and yet they dont want to give it advantage??!

EDIT:
Just came across this

Bro, they do test the cars on their Lotus-designed track on that airstrip. Some corners mimics some F1 track corners around the world. Its carefully considered balance of straights and curves.

They do test the Veyron on that track which is NOT a straight line, and the Veyron is NOT at the top of their fastest car ranking.

I hate it when some Japs car beat the crap out of some Contis and they will said the car have 'no soul' even though it's a pretty good car, sigh

Yeah, but Top Gear is not even about accuracy at all, its more entertainment than informative.

The 'coolness' is more important to them than speed and performance. I enjoys it thoroughly, not taking things too seriously.

If you want accurate info, and abit more serious, watch Fifth Gear, but its boring as hell.

Wow... way to go... reading too much into an entertainment program I suppose?

Top Gear is and never will be for serious reviews. Just pure witty fun :)

On that note, the GTR did beat the hell out of some Ferraris and Lamborghini's, and still I believe many would prefer the Porches, Ferraris or Lambo's over the GTR.

yea, agree with u. TG is about the cool factor, and they do silly things to keep the viewers excited. As I would guess 95% of their readership/viewership would never own the supercars they test, so they spice up the reviews to keep the audience coming back. if they do a dry review based on stats, i doubt TG would be what it is today.

the only thing i like is when they blow up cars or do crazy things. i take it as entertainment. it's like watching WWF.....its a sport, but caters for entertainment. in the ring, they talk smack to each other. after the show, they all go out for a beer and punani. hahahah....:D

It's pure gold in terms of motoring shows. Just how lacking are we of some witty banter between those hosts.

Can still imagine my dad's laughter as we watched Season 18x2 last week, the part where they introduced the Stig's Chinese cousin. :24:
