500 bucks is probably for the lower arm bush only la...
it comes in a pair.

3er was selling a pair of powerflex bush, i think.
 The lower arm bush cost me around RM380 per pair/set. And the Lower Arm cost me RM1100 per pair/set. But you can buy it separately, so it will cost you RM500-RM550. I changed the driver side only.

Is it advisable to change 1 seide only? Was told may feel a bit unbalanced?

mini_jeff67,

just change the lower arm bush can oledi....

its crazy changing the whole assembly when only the bush is cracked.

the one that chester showed you is the powerflex la..same as 3er is selling.

:) yup, check the arm bush first. If the arm bush still in good condition, you may need to check the lower arm, try to jack the car up and shake the front wheel. If the front wheel is over loose or knocking. You may need to change the arm set.

Went to the website that 3er recommended - seems like the bush is not the one at the wheel side. Wheel is shaky, like Samhun said.

So can the bush at the wheel side be changed as well?

Jeff,

Wah lau eh! Ask PML about the price of your lower arm and they quoted a price of S$438 (RM 980) for one lower arm only. So if wanna change both sides, must times two. The price might vary because they asked for chassis number before confirming the price with me. I dont know your number but I just told them to quote me the price of the lower arm for the model 1999 E46 318i. Hope its helps!

E36 and E46 are different where the later uses aluminium arms and hence you cant pump out the ball joints and bush. Have to replace the whole thing. Also newer E46 has a bigger mounting (item 6) which supposedly last longer than the original. Normally with labour to replace the arms, it will cost in the region of RM 1400, as I normally see the owners pay at the workshop :)
labor costs RM1400 to replace arms? isn't this very very exorbitant?

Wah, really wahlau eh!

CK at Sekama quoted RM650 each side... Still looking...
 try to get the price from RM500- RM550 for one side, i'm sure they will still have their profit margin on the price. Labour changes should be less thn RM80.

not quite understand what u mean?? But from the picture you post don't actually looks like our E46 undercarriage parts. Especially the the both arms. If i'm not mistaken it should has one arm. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Yup, only 1 arm (at the moment!), part 5. Circled part is where the ball joint is shaky - worn out bush.
