Dear all Sifu's,Seeking for advice. My ride ride is 318i, M43. Suddently my top speed only reach 130km/hr but if I flooring longer about few second, my rpm will drop down. Just change adjuster unit but no improvement.

terrible...balik kampung KL to Kelantan, overtaking and hill climbing experience with engine lost power.

It might be as simple as plugginh in a scanner and reading the fault codes but from last time reading/personal experience....

#1 Check MAF *Take off MAF and drive around if the car, if back to Normal thats the guy Lead to a Whole Inter connected system *touch wood
#3 Loss of Compression (due to seals and rings in the engine) / cracks in Headers ---> Major Overhaul imminent
#4 Crank Sensor or Throttle Valve Positioning Sensors or All Intake Related System...

As it goes down so does the cost... Good Luck

Thank Xcrave... my engine running good during idle. Dont you think speed sensors also should be in suggestion list?

I am curious. Why speed sensors should be in the list?

maybe spark plugs..

btw, what is a adjuster unit?

have you check wiring? since my past car also got problem like that. i came from wiring that cannot support supply to gear box sensor.

Interesting....Which wiring? Do you mean the gear box sensor is speed(RPM) sensor?

hahaha.... why don't you go to a reputable workshop and get a proper assessment....

change this and that but not addressing the real issue is a waste...

happen to me centuries ago on my m40 ..the coil was the culprit ...not mitaken called the ignation coil ..

yes, thats wiring because the supply from positive dont have enough power.

i've same problem with my m43tub19 engine...sudden lost of power.....rpm feel very heavy....

in forum they call it as hesitation...where by engine is hesitate to rev..most probably is MAF sensor goin kaput...

i still haven change mine .....but soon...

good hobby if you have the time and money for it... this forum is for discussion but members can only guess what your problems are... loss of power can be due to many things... coils is one thing that have just been mentioned by Iceman which I don't see earlier...

also you mention "adjuster" which jarance and me don't know...

loss of power can also be due to vacum hose leaks....

you may need to change all the hoses of an old car...

fuel filter congestion could also be another reason...

have fun exploring...
