Hi Guys,For the e34 and BMW for the matter, can we use those aftermarket bulbs / LED bulbs selling the accessory shops? You know those that emit a while light for say the signal or the reverse light? Reason I am asking was I was abt to purchase them in a shop but when I was about to pay the boss there told his worker that BMW cannot use these bulbs. He says something about our power rating is higher and the bulbs will not last. Checked with my mech and he said can use but may not last. Then how about HIDs? Seen may fit those normal ones from China. Thanks

Good question... saw these in my accessories shop too ... hmm... anybody care to share if you'd use these before?

Btw... these things ain't cheap ...

The China HID ,after used for few years ,till now still in good con,not bad.

Just wan to share some info about HID that i heard. Apparently the China HID...those really cheap ones emit UV light, so after a while ur head lamp will start to deteriorate. And they are also expected to have a life spend of only 1 year.

lance: how much did the Angel eye cost u??looks really nice.

guys...actually the main question is more of those bulbs for the signals....those white ones...of the LED type bulbs....

as for HID i heard many just fit the normal ones

Buy Philips ...no need lar...cheap is good....am using China ones ...so far so good :)

wan to ask soemthing, sorry for straying from the main topic. the China HID that u are using on the E34, do they project the light similar to the halogen or there is dark spots? I have been having dark spots, glare and light thrown everywhere except where needed on the China HId that i am using.

dun put v12 la..blackie.. u told me put v8 n dun put v12... now tell adrian put v12.. hehe..

china one how much n wat brand ar?.. wanna try on my project car la!

yeah lar Blackie...as far as i know the v12 one also still in progress ...not yet come out....

Blackie's v8 dun play play oh....hahahaha

the China one is pretty cheap...PM me and I can give u the contact....Actually I haven't installed into the beemer yet but using on my other car...soon will get for the beemer

I have a feeling it has something to do with the resistance that is provided by the LED...i feel the LED has a much lower resistance compare to the original bulb so the computer sence somethign wrong and light up ur dash.

What base is the light for the E34 low beam??like H1 or H7??

Err I may be wrong....all this while I tot its H3 and the fog lights H1....

actually i not so sure bout it also, the acc guy told me that it is H1 while i install my hid last month ....

Thanks...found out it was H1 from a previous E34 owner. J-e34...how is ur HID? I am thinking of getting a E34 also and will also wan to install HID.

Blakchowling..does the LED work when u install even when the dash said failure?

hie intergamania and M30,

i only on my HID for less than 10min, after i install it on my car, cause she already 'sleep' inside another acc shop to install sound system for ngam ngam 1 month:eek::stupid:, arghhh

i m using 4300k (brand name :prius), after the day i install the colour of the light is just similiar to original 4300k, and while the light on the projector itself also looks ok, you will notice that it's HID, but that is not white at all.

anyway i also very TAKUT .... uncle polxs and Jxj will stop and treat me a drinks kaka

M30 is time to get an E34, join us !!!

j-E34..lol...sadly will not be in Malaysia though. I am looking for another car to drive here in Australia.

Lol...i think should be ok if u can really hide the HID ballast...maybe tape it and spray it black to look like some of the other components in the car. I am planing to do that to my E23 which i had install HID in to when i am back in Malaysia.

Incandescence lamp (filament bulb) are lower resistance as compare to LED. LED are basically diode that
emit light when the bias current is correct.

Hence, you will be able to measure low resistance if the bias current is correct and high resistance
if the bias current is incorrect.

The BMW system sense for bulb failure by sensing the current flowing for a 5W lamp.

If you put an LED lamp, the power usage is much lower and the ECU will think that the bulb
is blown.

This is similar to people who install HID and get error because the HID consumption is 35W whereas
your normal H1 bulb is 55W. The computer think that the bulb is burned.
