Referring to my thread here; http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/showthread.php?45984-My-94-325M&p=770347&viewfull=1#post770347In an attempt to repair the leak, mechanic change the valve cover.. however oil is still leaking onto the hot exhaust (I could burst into flames any day now )The engine is also low on compression & sounds absolutely terrible, however I am getting 15.2L for 120KM (100% city driving). While the valve cover was off, the head looks pretty good according to my untrained eye..Any ideas where it is leaking from?, could it be the exhaust manifold gasket? Does my poor E36 require a new heart? The rest of her is fine, just got a clutch job last week..Am I doomed? or is there still hope?

drive down to some of the meet ups and from there a few experts could determine it ... by words can't really describe it bro ...

We can guarantee you will be recunned, not otherwise.

I wouldn't worry about that. Unless the oil is collecting in a pool on top of the exhaust, trickles of oil are too small in amount to burn with a flame and everything in the engine bay other than the exhaust is far from being hot enough to heat lubrication oil past it's flash point. Meaning, if the oil is in contact with a surface cooler than its flash point, it's unlikely it can burn. It will be like trying to light up a wet newspaper.

Sometimes it can just be the smallest of nicks in contact surface that can break the gasket seal or a flex in the cover that is unseen to the naked eye. Try replacing the head cover. Has the engine suffered overheating before? The worst case scenario is that your cylinder head is warped and would require machining.
Even so, minor oil leaks like this isn't real cause for complete engine replacement. Be patient with your UDM, bro. She's been doing many miles and many years and oil leaks are an accepted fact of cars getting on ;) With patience and time you can find the cause of this annoying but non-threatening problem.

No overheating history when I've owned it, valve cover was replaced yesterday to no avail. No coolant seems to be mixing on the engine oil.

Need to bring her back to life!

A bit more detail of your engine m50 or m52 or m43 or m40.

If m430/43 can be rear oil sensor plug leaking on the gearbox. If m50/52, then can't be the head gasket. The headers are higher than the gasket.

Try a engine wash. Then start to see the leak where itvis. Do it at night, darkness with bright forthright can see. Worse to worst, your cover is warped. Look for a new one.

Cheers...
