Hello everyone, It's good to find and join you here : )

A question, I would like to retrofit the LCD screen in my BMW 316 (f-30, 2013)
from the 6.5 inch to 8.8 inch, as appeard here in the picture.

Can anybody spread some light and details about how it can be done?
Do I need to replace the I-drive nob as well? any other things I need to adpat?

In general, has anybody got a recommendation about a reliable source for purchasing?

Thank you in advance

With kind greetings

Can't say if anyone has done it before as all 316i models at this stage would still be under warranty and modding to that screen would have voided the car's warranty and yes the Idrive knob would have to be replaced as you need extra buttons for nav. The Idrive touch is also in town now so that's another upgrade if you want.

I personally wouldn't upgrade mine. Just save money and go replace the car that has one build in haha.

I don't see the point having larger screen. If you really want a larger screen, I guess u can try CarPlay.

How does CarPlay equate to a larger screen? It just shows what you have on your phone to the existing car screen.

Do drop a note to BimmerCoder a club vendor here and see if he has that available. I love large screens as I watch DVDs on my screen whenever I am stuck in traffic jams in kl

bimmercoder can do it for you. folks sell them on ebay for a fraction of the price you get here. problem is that you'll still need someone to help you code the system into your car. for an NBT unit, you'll need to get a set of 3 items. bigger screen, head unit and idrive controller (something like this). physically fitting it in isn't difficult, coding it would need 'coders'.

with a bigger screen, you can also get an additional multimedia (this box) input unit for
- 'reverse' cam add on + coding to display PDC + reverse camera feed + parking lines guide.
- watch dvd on the go
- store music in local hdd

add another mirroring interface (this thing), you can also mirror smartphone screen on the idrive screen. such as Waze nav app.

I'm longing for the day that I can mirror waze on the nice idrive screen but the trouble to get there is such a hassle. it'll be great if anyone's done this and shed some light on the painful/smooth journey to getting this?

That looks interesting! I shall try to see if there is an option for the older BMW's! Its basically a better version of CarPlay lol!
