Hi Gurus ,I m new comer to the BMW group ...keen in buying E39 525i . I did allot of reading and mostly have recommended very highly about these car . Would like to get extra opinion about these car regarding the regular issues , maintenance and cost of parts . Of course all the while I'm been using a Japanese car . Can anyone advice me .Thanks and appreciate . cheers ......

Welcome bro, u can start looking at 5 series E39 threads...im sure this has been discussed many times so just spend some time and go through the threads...

if switching from Japanese to UDM, beware of culture shock. Even though 2nd hand UDM may cost the same as a Japanese car but mind you, maintenance cost is still UDM standards. Prepare for the worst but experience the drive of a lifetime.

its not tat expensive compared to nowadays Jap cars... freakin expensive parts!

even regular service is cheaper for my bimmer than my brand new honda jazz(sold it after just one year)!! darn japs!!! cousin oso just sold his new altis for yr 2000 e39 528..

just pay attention to preventive maint, issue here wil be you finding a well kept one, pay the price and get one from an ethusiast... you will not regret the joy of driving her...

no offence, but lot of pple talk kok, want cheap and good sumore!! wer to find ? tell me...

good luck wt ur search... cheers

seelan,
Not trying to put you off but all the above comments are from personal experiences......."sweat, tears and sometimes blood"

The maintenance cost depends on many factors such as the existing conditions of the car, what items did you change and where did you do it....etc. On the average, in the initial 1st year of ownership, be prepare to invest around RM 600-800 per month.

RM600-800 is cheap man ... maybe for those lucky ones. I think it shud be AT LEAST RM1000 per month.

Hahaaa with the high-maintenance like that, I guess only crazy people like us will still stick to their BMWs. Its the pleasure man ...

hm...i guess we find value in the money that we pay to purchase and maintain our UDM... =)
