Wonder how much to fix those? The dealer doesn't want to fix unless I pay more for the car.CheersZib

Bro,

Did you get these pix when sending car for mechanic inspection? If yes, should have asked the mechanic to come up with an estimated quote to repair all necessary stuffs.

If not, you should have driven the car to any BMW Specialist and let them diagnose.

Yes it was during my self-inspection.
I will bring the car to a mech this Saturday. But at least the car has not been involved in a major accident.

Previous car I saw had a chassis welded and that was an E60 2006. Hence I walked away.
Thanks to a forummer here who suggested I bring the car to Obermaier in Jalan Ipoh. A guy called Freddy came and inspected the car.

My E39 used to leak every now and then when she was my weekend ride. Now that she's my daily ride, leak no more.

Usually ex-owner/reseller would not fix anything and sell the car cheaper coz the bill could go really really high if most, if not all, wear'n'tear parts are replaced, depending on how picky you are. Another variable is the wallet-depth factor.

What's the spec of this car you're seeing anyway? Care to share a bit?

If you haven't browsed through the Classified section, there are some E39 posted for sale there. Maybe you could contact / PM the owners and find out more about their rides as well.

It seewai,
It is a 2002 525i Local AB. This one is fitted with xenon (not ori).

The rest are normal local spec:
-front and rear PDC
-Rear electric roller blind
-electric memory seats

I chose this car as it comes with 3 keys(2 remote + 1 service key) and all the manuals and booklets. 3 owners from new.

Problems are:
1) Radiator was leaking and it has been patched may need a new radiator soon.
2) Sagging rof lining but the dealer promised to fix it.
3) Left rear door power windows not working, also will be fixed by the dealer.

But I am happy with the car and the price as the car is mint and accident free. The mileage was 103k KM but the last stamp by AB was 67k KM back in June 2005. So it could have been more by at least 40K-60K KM by now but BMW's are meant to driven.

As long as the mileage has not been excessively tampered, I guess I have no choice nor do I have any control on this habit by dealers.

Cheers

Bro, the mileage is actually stored in several modules in the car, and also the keys. Even if the mileage has been tampered, a diagnostic tool might be able to trace back the mileage of the car in other locations. Some of us in here have the PA Soft BMW Scanner 1.4 which have the capability to check the mileage in these modules and keys, and also read logged errors in the cars.

Btw those underside pictures shows a very clean car, free of rust. My UK 2003 is rusted to hell underneath, miles apart from yours. There are not many plastic cover under the E39, in some market they have it but not on Malaysian ones.

Ps: Errr what happened to the pictures? Broken link?

Behr radiator (original OEM manufacturer) is about RM800 and if your current radiator is already leaking, better replace all the parts together once all the deal is final.

Things to consider changing in the cooling system:

1. Radiator
2. Expansion tank
3. Thermostat
4. Water pump
5. Hoses
6. Bleed screw (small but important! learnt the hard way)

Nice underpants pictures zib....ooopss..i mean underside bro..neat, clean and seems quite well taken care of..

I think its my workplace firewall or something. Saw it on my phone last nite and it was ok. Ignore it then. Any other photos, interiors and such?

From my observation, your flywheel oil seal and the gearbox gasket leaking. There are 2 covers missing too.mine is fully covered.

The interior not yet.
Exterior pics I will post later after the dealer touch up the paint a lil bit.

Cheers

Hi JohnJ,
Can you show me your E39's underside?

yes the car had the cover under the radiator removed so that I can take pictures of the power steering pump leak.

cheers

power steering leak is normal. just give it a flush, change the hoses and the power fluid resevoir. As for the Gear box oil sump i notice the gasket is Black. it should be green. the black oil sump gasket is RM35 and it leaks no matter how much you thighten the bolts. The Green gasket cost about RM80 and far better and does not leak make sure you change the gear box filter too. Trust me it will last longer than 200K km. and your final drive lubricants. If you want to be sure that the mileage is adjusted which is impossible look at the speedo meter next to the mileage counter if there is an orange dot there. If there is an orange dot than it has been tempered.

Just my 2 cents
