..i came across this E38 (i like this model a lot), and mileage is only 43K , so im wondering..is this a joke or real thing ?? And when i say real thing, im not thinking about clock made full cycle and came back to 43K :) .. so..whats the word guys.. ?? I see that passenger seat is a bit off the place, whats indicating that use of vehicle must be more than 43K la..or im wrong..is this worth money this guy asking for ??http://www.mudah.my/BMW+728i+Facelifted+E38+With+Sunroof-11281784.htm

hmmm... 43,000km or miles?
43,000miles ~ 69,000km

Anyway, mileage seem ultra low for a 14 year old car even if it's in miles.. But sometimes, it could be a rare find.. If you're interested, go check it out...
The seats may not be the best indicator as leather needs maintenance. If the owner wasn't savvy in that, it'll crack whether it's being used or sitting idle. The pedals didn't look that worn but it can be changed.
Best is to go for a diagnostic, can probably extract the actual mileage from the DME.

Thing is, although with all these mileage fraud going on around, you gotta keep in mind that a 7 is not exactly a daily drive for most people.

It could well be a weekend car and kept in a garage most of her life

That said, the carpet looks waaaaaayyyy too worn for a 43k mileage car, and also look at the shine on the steering wheels, looks like its been well driven, this car..

hook up the bmw140 scanner and the actual mileage will be revealed.
you can also check if there is a difference between the ews(immobiliser) and ike(instrument cluster elex) data....they shud match

waddaya mean with the pax seat being off place?the seat is height adjustable.......
and the price is good if the car is in good nick....

go check it out la......

Lets go and check this car eCCo..i'll bring my scanner..and the front passenger seats looks like its been out from its place :)

Just to share with everyone. Went to view the car and met the owner. He is a retired contractor 62 yrs young. The car was bought in 2002 (according to him 2nd hand la) for his wife. Unfortunately for thw last few years, his beloved wife had diabetes and cancer. Right now the car is occupying space together with five other cars belonging to him and his children in Kepong. The mileage seems authentic, condition of the car is pretty good, unless you are a fuss spot and want the car to look like our bro Badrul. Front suspensions need replacement. Go have a look, the owner is ok. A typical contractor if you don't mind the four letter word in between sentences.

Something tells me the carpet aren't originally from the E38..... ;)

Actually, this may not be too far away from the truth. Take my own experience. An average mileage for me in a year is about 4000km. 10 years is at max 40000km then ... and that's not really too far away from what was advertised! Actually, I checked the mileage on my present F02 (bought end 2010/Jan 2011). Till date, I've only clocked a touch over 3000km ... engine baru broken in only.

Yup.... actually the carpet belongs to mercedes....the original carpets underneath the carpet.... as mentioned by moots. unfortunately,, the speedometer cluster spoilt and front suspension also not in good condition..
need spend some time to touch up for sure need spend money too..

bro, urs is exception lah. u live very near to your office or u work from home? I lived only a 5 min-drive away from my office but i have travelled 19,000km in 7 months. and i have refrained from driving it during weekend or to certain place i forsee parking is an issue, but enjoyed my E39 instead.

Bro EL118, Haha... you are right. I'm probably a bit of an oddity. Home to work place is only about a 5 min drive as well - only difference is, once I get to the office, I stay there & if I need to go anywhere else, it's usually either walking or using the MRT. Then, 5 min drive back home after work. All in all, probably 10km max a day x average of 250 days (that's an average work year) = 2500km, I guess. Holidays are usually spent overseas (nothing much to do here in Singapore), and of course, there's the odd shopping trip (but that's also 5 mins away from home - Singapore's not really big, bro, hahah).

However, since joining this forum, I've been scouring the streets in my UDM - been driving a LOT more on the streets, just so to get the feel of the car - I reckon I'm re-learning my love of the car, I guess :). In that one month since I've been on the forums, I've clocked up more than 1000km! Now my odometer has just crossed 4000km hehehehe. These forums are a poisonous influence, bro... heheh.

so driving in s'pore most likely will get your car broken in like a year's time. My 523i, about a year, it's already 40k km plus plus

Wow... bro DJH, you're really enjoying your UDM! But, let's be honest, Singapore is small. Even if I drive around the island everyday, it'll still take me longer than a year to break in the car.

Bro wobbles, if u come to M'sia more often, you will reach 20k km yearly in no time also la.
