Hi,

I am driving F30 316i. My car is about 2 months old. I noticed that my Idrive Control knob colour is fading (the black rubber or is it plastic areas). Even rubbing it with your finger makes the black area to turn light colour. Anyone else have this issue?

Yikes, only 2 months old and its already fading? Any pics for us to compare? Was there any oil or cream on your fingers when you operate the knob?

Better make sure you email BMW Voice and let them know about this defect. Stuff like this should go all the way up to BMW Malaysia and not just stop at the dealer's after sales dept.

Here is a photo taken with my phone. It's not so clear. You can clearly see the discolouration where the edges are now lighter compared to the centre area of the knob.

I will call the A to claim warranty. Hopefully it's a one of case and won't reoccur once it is replaced.

Ah..okay looks pretty bad to me, better not accept any BS from the dealer...these days the after sales reps have some kind of excuse/reason whenever u try to claim warranty.

Not only do they need a new set of iDrive but it also involves a different set of software to drive the touch pad. I've also been asking BMW Malaysia if they will be bringing in the reverse camera for F30 and their response was not at the moment and if I want I can get a F10 or some higher end model that comes with a reverse camera. :shot:

Looks cool but wondering if they need to tap on any wiring to get the reverse sensor activated...
