hi everybody,At the moment i'm using 10" driver with enclosure in the rear boot. am thinking of clearing the boot by having a small woofer/s at the front; maybe at doors or under the seats or under the dashboard. it will be powered by the existing monoblock.what type of installation do you guys think is reasonable. the brand and model of suitable speaker, the location install or even a custom made small box for installation.I'm open to any ideas/suggestion etc. Thanks in advance.

Hmmm, lemme watch this thread... is there enough space under the seats or below the dash up in front for sufficient enclosure volumes? Definitely has be custom made already... the commercially available under seat subs (eg. blaupunkt) do not have enough low end extension, IMO...

Btw Strider, u did start a somewhat similar thread on this a while ago...

Yes LCP, i'm actually trying to free some space now occupied by the enclosure in the boot. The free air ideas not so convincing. I had seen Ford Ranger having a small speakers ( i think 5 or 6 inches) installed in a small enclosure that become the arm rest (definitely more than 1 speaker). The sound not that bad for SQ listener.

Definitely it has to be custom made. My last choice will be at the door panel.

thanks anyway.

why dont u try at the front passenger leg area, against the firewall. a friend did it with 2 8" subs, nice tight bass for SQ. custom box.

the only thing is that the passenger must be careful la not to step too hard. :)

Strider,

Assuming it's for an E36, you can probably go 3 way up front. My pals and I set up an install sometime back with a pair of 1 inch tweets on the dash, a pair of 5.25 inch mids in the stock location and a pair of 8 inch mid bass drivers in modified door pods. Sounded very nice to my ears .... 6 channel active set-up with Vifa + Scan drivers.

Regards,
VaN.

One other thing that has been suggested to me to even out the E36 leveling is to mount the 100w mid speaker that they use in the Harriers.
would improve the sound balance and leveling, not sure on looks though..

u also can try looking for slim subwoofer for ur car.
prices ranges from 400-600 but still u can get good bass sound.
it just like the size of an amplifier.
my brother in law use it in his Toyota Hilux. since hilux doesnt
have boot to install subwoofer.

p/s the subwoofer come with its on built in amplifier.

Van,

Thanks. I'm hoping you to respond to this. Actually it's for my E30. I'm running Focal component at the front stock location with the tweeter on the dash powered by Alpine 4 channel amp (active). The 10" Alpine sub now in the boot also powered by Alpine monoblock. Thinking of moving/changing the sub to the front so that I can clear the boot. On the early idea am thinking of installing 2 sub hanging free air at the rear shelf.

mid bass.....mmmm....@ door.....

python and rzonealley,

Thanks guys.
Actually my E36 is using Clarion sub with built in amp installed under the dash below the glove compartment. and I like it. But for E30, the similar size sub as Clarion with built in amp can't be installed under the glove compartment. And also I want to use the existing monoblock to power the driver/s.

Thanks again guys. Please any other ideas/suggestion

Hi Strider,

I use a seperate 75W amp to power a 12" sub in the rear with a half box set-up.
works fine for the Sub, also have a 600W amp for the rest of the speakers.
gives it a much more controlable sound with a 3 input 3 output crossover.

python,

the existing set up is find. What I want to do is to take out the existing sub in the boot so that my boot will have more space. I had been playing with an idea before to have a little bit smaller set up in the boot; this is where the free air sub idea coming in. But now i been thinking of having a bass if not a sub-bass at the front.

anyway thanks for the input.
