No prob, but not so soon, I need to change both my front and rear speakers first, not too sure what the previous owners of the car did to 'em speakers... a bit rojak with very harsh highs up front...

Currently auditioning for some good 5.25" components...

Iqlima, most humans can actually hear 20Hz, the only problem is not many speakers can reproduce that low note correctly. Most of the time, you will end up feeling the 20Hz moving air instead of hearing it. In my car, using my test CD, I can actually hear the 20Hz, but on my home hi-fi, I can only feel the moving air. If you are using a good pair of headphones to listen to the 20Hz, I think you should be able to hear it.

The "feeling" that you get when you hear a 20Hz note is actually very similar to the feeling you get when you are near a bunch of elephants... heck, elephants communicate using infra-sound frequencies anyway... 20Hz and below.

Or maybe it's just me being a bit weird to be able to hear so low.... hahaha...

Indeed, I can hear as low as 25hz ( not good ear ...sigh) but yes with my headphone but again while I drive , I barely can hear even 40hz . Ahh , too much to list the noise out there .So, I just don't bother try to reproduce such frequency in my car.

Iqlima, I can hear the deep low end in my car, but yes, it's only clearer during idling and pottering around town (people in George Town drives at 20-40km/h in town, want them to go a bit faster also cannot)... when moving at highway speeds, can still hear but need to crank it up a bit...

Auditioning for 5.25" components... not much success so far, especially here in Penang... not many keep stock of anything more expensive than run-of-the-mill stuff, even if they do, it will be a 6.5".

I do not intend to go for high end speakers, mid level is good enough... was looking at Morels (no, don't shoot me, I haven't bought any Israeli thing yet)... one shop has Pulse 5.25", but haven't audition yet because I don't intend to buy from that shop (can get smuggled Morels cheaper elsewhere, possibly one grade up Dotech Mk II at same price). All I have done is try to sit in people's car and listen... and surprisingly (remember, my budget criteria is "mid" level) I find Blaupunkt speakers sounding reasonable, heard the ODx series in a Pug 306, surprisingly good considering that the speaker has virtually super thin mounting depth. Also heard Blaupunkt XL series components on an E36, this has dome tweeter, quite bright, but detailed.

My other car (Satria) has Nakamichi coaxials all-round, for coaxes they are good. Again, Nakamichi's only component speakers SP-S5200 and SP-S6500 were introduced many years back and the stock (at Cosplus Jln Kelawei) all looked damn aged, not to mention more expensive than the "legal" Morels. Nakamichi also went into bankruptcy a few years back, so no new models.

Right now looking at Blaupunkt Velocity series, they have 2 ranges: standard Velocity Vc132/Vc172 and Velocity Competition VPc132/VPc172. The Velocity Competition series is more than twice the price the standard Velocity: was quoted RM1300 for VPc132 versus RM600 for Vc132. What I like about these Velocities is that they have moved into soft dome tweeters (one of my criteria)... Not many speakers out there are on soft dome tweeters...

I'm on the brink of "can't take it anymore" (the sound from my current from 4" Infinities)... might settle for the Velocity Vc132 soon... the VPc132 may be a bit too deep to fit into the kick panels...

6.5 or 5.25, the 'tone' will still be similar.

getting my diamonds was a risk because i purchased them purely based on recommendations, but in the end they worked out very nicely.
