Hey there guys!I'm new to this site and am the new owner to a 2nd hand E34 520i beemer. At the moment, i'm having few difficulties with the car. Hope u guys can slide me a few pointers.1) I find my car rather sluggish when overtaking, 'naik bukit time' (can never use 2nd gear, its always 1st gear all the way), and even when on normal rides. Is this normal?2) I found that when stepping on the fuel pedal, it accelerates slow...air first than it rams.3) My drivers side window and back left window suddenly cannot open. Could this be because of the wiring or computer defaults or what? Few months back, the whole left side went kaput...from the front lights, windows and the back light. 4) How do i make my lights all 'terang' again. It's so blurry right now.5) What should i do to make my car stable? 6) Had changed all 4 absorbers but still when hitting the pot holes, the impact is quite bad. what do i do?7) Sunroof cannot close properly, everytime i close i need to adjust it with my hands manually and air still keeps coming in and it's rritating when driving long distance. what do i do?8) Any workshop that is good and reasonable that u guys can recommend?Thanks!-lolipo-

Manual ? If manual, check ur clutch

2) I found that when stepping on the fuel pedal, it accelerates slow...air first than it rams.

Get a tuning - CO reading shud be circa 1.2 - 1.6

3) My drivers side window and back left window suddenly cannot open. Could this be because of the wiring or computer defaults or what? Few months back, the whole left side went kaput...from the front lights, windows and the back light.

Bad connection to the wiring, perhaps .. due to aging

4) How do i make my lights all 'terang' again. It's so blurry right now.

Open it up and wash it (the inside part)

5) What should i do to make my car stable?

Sport springs, absorbers, tire pressure

6) Had changed all 4 absorbers but still when hitting the pot holes, the impact is quite bad. what do i do?

Check all undercarriage bushing

7) Sunroof cannot close properly, everytime i close i need to adjust it with my hands manually and air still keeps coming in and it's rritating when driving long distance. what do i do?

Open up the motor. Need to do adjust the alighment of the motor.

8) Any workshop that is good and reasonable that u guys can recommend?

Quite a few .... read some of threads. That might gif u some ideas

What year is your car? Yours could be a 12V, 24V and 24V with vanos.

Thanx a bunch 535i, will try to get it fixed. Today, the sunroof cannot fully open. It's really a heart breaker la i tell you. This may sound stupid but, how many bushing is there underneath? At least i know before i send it to the mechanics, so tak kena tipu. The thing is, everytime i send it to the workshop nearby my house, the bill will surely come up to RM1K, without fail. After a while, i kindda start to have doubts due to the same problem keep coming back. Are you familiar with German Autos?

AlBundy, the car i believe is 12V and its 80plus - 96 (yr)

Maybe thats why the car is sluggish. But it feels as though minyak tak sampai and i think theres something to do with the injection. I think.

Reminder: My knowledge in cars are very the very minimal...let me knw if whatever i say is wrong.

I would love to know, what's TT & HH and where is this TT & HH being held? I'm in Tmn Melawati and where is the nearest TT & HH session. Let me know also the time and day of the session if possible.

Thanks!

Thanks Iqlima,

I'm not complaining about the cost/price, it's just that i want to know whats the normal price in the market nowadays so that i won't kena tipu with all this stoops mechanics again.

Anyway, thanks for the sites...it's really good. Keep in touch dude.

why not send to AB? they won't tipu you but at least you will get ur $$ worth.. and 'professional' advice.

i don't trust all this self made mechanics. you may send a car in and get back a car with less parts le.

I think there are 6 pieces of bushes at the rear, one pair for the subframe, and 2 pairs of trailing arm bush (only change this when you experience uneven tire wear). At the front, there is the upper arm bush and change this if you experience the infamous e34 shimmy.

Lolipo,

Try changing your absorber mountings (if you haven't). That will also contribute to smooth suspension.

yup .. but it can be an expensive affair .. !!

Lolipo,

It looks like you're concerned very much about the cost of repairs.
Trust me, when you get a used car, it will eventually burn a hole in your pocket and I notice that you already have spent quite a bit on you car. But just be prepared for more of this.

hi,

i guess it is normal to spend on repairs for 2nd hand car.
after all, u got it cheap compared with brand new.

just check around with friends on BMW rides and you might be abled to gauge where went wrong...

if you are buying bushes, you may consider buy in Singapore which is way ahead cheaper compared with Malaysia.

Site an example: trailling arm bush.
JB M-Technic quoted RM330/pair (rear).
Singapore Performance Motor quoted SIND56/pair.

Gearbox mounting: RM65/pc (total 4 pcs)
Singapore: SIND80/set (consists of 4 pcs) all orignal

Besides, you can try Eng Soon...(www.engsoon.com.sg). competitive pricing

best rgds.

From many feedbacks AB is not really as what we thought of. I remember a member of us came back from AB & list us what have been charged & done. The figure is....wow!

Breyton60, I know e60 is full of electronics but how bout scout around! You may find out what we found out too! ;) Just to share with, cheers!

Problem with bringing your car to AB is that they require your car to be inspected first before any work is done on it. And the cost of the inspection is RM 1600.

Thnx guys!

I'm glad that u guys replied. I am concerned about the price of repairs coz of bad experience. I don't actually mind the price if it's worth it but for the last few months for every freaking months there will always be a problem that would cost me a bomb. But the thing is, the same problem keeps coming back. What has the mechanics being doing with my car? things like that la...

Singapore cheap leh? WHO'S GOING TO SINGAPORE??? LET ME KNOW... need to kirim few stuffs.

keep the advice and tips rolling guys...might be posting my scrap car soon...am so xcited! hahahah...

Guys, whats TT la...nobody is telling me anything bout that...
