Anyone can help me with this? I want to fix the arm rest to my e34..people gave me different explanation about it, so before I bore any holes and get my e34 becoming like a cheese for the rats, can anyone tell me what exactly I should do to fix the armrest?? Please give me the DIY instruction because I really want to do it this weekend.

I don't know actually but I would remove the backrest rear trim(easy 2 screw removal at the bottom) and see at the sides if there are provosions for mounting the armrest.I,personally, hate having to drill additional holes if the seats are not designed for it.

I suppose I will just need to put small bolster instead than thinking about the armrest?

Ah... Arm rest. If you need one, don't get the factory types which looks ugly and not as useful as they seemed. Built a Console box/Armrest. yourself.

I did a very nice one for my E34 that is very functional. Better than any other I have seen. I think I will take a pic and post it on my site later. Took me about 3 hours to saw 1cm Swedish plywood. (From Ericsson crates!). Put a hinge so it can open left-to-right (I am left-hand driver country), so in Msia will do right-left opening. A slot behind so rear passengers can slot in their mobile phones without opening it. Driver and front passenger can put mobile phones and CDs in there. When closed, does a fine arm-rest for both driver and passenger.
Sprayed black and wrapped in black leather. I put magnetic contact for the lid latch. Works better.
One extra, I had a Treo 650 pigeonHole dock in front, so I can slot the treo handset into it with handsfree cable near the gear shift.

I had six 2 inch screws drilled into the rear base of the console. Its solidly anchored to the car.

Remove the rear trim,u'll see 2 holes for stud size M13 with another big hole in between them at the far left corner frame on the driver seat.Ur armrest should come with a main big stud attached 2 a base plate wif similar holes 2 the one on the seat.

1) Make a small cross hole on the side of the seat where the main big stud
should go in.

2) Push the big stud into the cross hole so that it goes into the big hole on
the frame. The base plate would b a bit difficult 2 go in, unhook the
seat fabric/leather at this point n would b easy.

3) Put 2 M13 bolts joining the the base plate n the frame through the 2
small holes mentioned earlier.Tighten them wif two nuts.

4) Rehook the fabric/leather n refit the rear
trim...voila, u hv armrest now. :D

5) If still unsure...just give me a call.

Regards B)
