Sure it well bro

Yup thats very true. Car still needs to run well.

Im actually looking at what other options there are on the market except PS2s and Rossos. , perhaps someone has tried something nice here.

Afterall, these tyres are high-ends with their high price. WE dont actually need that kinda performance especially for daily rides. PLus they wear out faster. I think the practicality side of tyre choice also has to be considered. So far, people have only mentioned the Toyos.

Hasn't anyone else tried something nice? I think pricing at RM 750 and onwards shouldnt be classified as too cheap and thus not good, or some might say im-proper tyres.

Tyres are your only contact with the road. They are the most important performance factor- just ask any F1 team manager/engineer. Always buy the best you can afford.

Don't need high end tyre performance? What about, say, during an emergency braking situation? Or how about an unexpectedly sharp curve? Objects on the road you have to swerve round suddenly?

Don't skimp on tyres, please.

 Barum? Never heard b4. RM300 onli for 18" & performance like continental?

Just change 2 pieces of Toyo proxes T1R 215/45/17 for RM435/pc.
Damn expensive but damn good. may need to change the other 2 in 3 to 6 month time. Sideways pls explain more on this barum. Where I can find in JB?

Wait till you try Barum...

But, it is not recommended for rally, drifting, autocross, track and as Zoggee's wise word

"Cheap tyre no good, good tyre not cheap"

Barum is not bad, however, it is manufactured by errr... heard it was by Continental

Necessary, thanks for the comments. You are most right with the comments you have made. Safety first. Tyres ARE the 1st contact with the road and as such no skimping should be done there.

I guess my personal feelings are like this. I have used the Pirelli Dragons for a year and 4 months now after reading the reviews on this forum. Yes they are excellent for anyone who is thinking of trying them. And at the other end of the range are the PS2s Rosso champions.

Im just hoping to try out other tyres before eventually going for the high ends, something in between, better than the Dragons (costlier) but not yet the PS2s Rosso. I just wanna play around and enhance my experience curve. So, i hope the someones who have tried out, played around, can give me some tips on what others have tried, to try out. Okay Toyo T1-R is on the list. Anyting else?

Im sure the Barum has its recognition somehow, but... no man.....dont play a fool with safety issues. Pricing is a determinant of its R&D.

Sorry if i have deviated from the main topic which i started off on guys. But, it does seem like a favorable topic, eh...... ?

Thanks so far for all the inputs. I appreciate more if possible.

Thanks again and goodnight!

i've been hoping to try out these tyres, but never had the chance..

1) bridgestone s-03 pole position
2) yokohama avs sport
3) dunlop sp sport maxx

tried toyo t1-R and yoko ad07.. both are value for money.. and u can be assured of it's quality n performance..

My opinion, when come to tyre don't compromise. On low profile tyre the breakaway point is narrow before it gives away and you start drifting, not like the normal tyre with high sidewall, you'll hear a lot of screeching sound before it breakaway.

So, sorry to say it, my advice is if you cannot afford the big diameter tyre don't put 18" or 19".

Adam, I've tried SO2-Pole Position but the tyre getting noisy when after aboud 50% of treadwear. Not sure of SO3-PP. My personal preference is still P-0-Rosso but sad to say the local dealer not bringing in the size for my Cooper-S, 205/45-17".

i agree 100% - do not ever compromise on tyres. bigger rims only for looks but good tyres for safety!

s-02.. yeah, noisy.. :D on rosso, i think it's a bit fast on the threadwear.. but very, very good tyres nonetheless..

i think s-03, rosso, contact sport2 and ps2 are the obvious choices when u have the dosh..

1) The S0-3s are damn good all round tyres. Very good ultimate grip, but it tends to breakaway quite suddenly. Decent in the wet, I didn't feel very comfortable.

2) The Yoko AVS Sport come wrapped in shiny foil, so that creates a great first impression! Wet grip is seriously amazing, much better than the S0-3s, but dry ultimate grip is less. Though the progression from grip to slide is very progressive.

Although I thought the above 2 tyres have been superseeded by now, right?

PS2s are the way to go now, I think. Good all round tyres.

Interesting.

I went from Conti Sport Contact II to Pirelli Dragon, and now I am somewhere in between the two price range and quality, on Yokohama Advan Neova AD07.

Price is about RM500+ for 17 inch.

Grip in dry is phenomenal, subjectively almost as good as CSC II I would say.

Grip in wet is so-so decent, but still better than CSC II.

My one gripe? Tire noise.

I doubt I will go back to P Dragon again.
