...most of the time my Z is literally doing nothing but collecting dust, since im not using it at all, but for club gatherings and pretty much nothing else (few times only during weekend)...having said that, how often and for how long i should turn on engine and leave it to at least idle ?? I mean..what would be longest period engine should be cold, turned off ?? Im asking because soon ill have to have some business trips, what will hit easy 3 weeks up to 1 month away from KL, and im not quite sure is that okay to be engine without any startup, for such period of time ?? How long can be turned off, without any consequence for engine, or any car part, for that matter ??

I shipped my car from UK on 8th July 2010, but due to some delays I was only able to collect the car back in Port Klang on 30 October 2010 and it still starts first time.

If your car has been idling as garage queen most of the time since the day you got her and you have no problem with it so far I guess that's alright for few weeks / 1 month without start. Worst case is you need a jump start, I don't think any engine components will go dead because of this.

That being said, my then 5-year-old E39 which was weekend ride for me, experienced minor oil leakage, which disappear once she became my daily ride.

If you worry about the battery, then I can suggest you disconnect the battery terminal so that it won't discharge, due to various electronics components, during your absence.

Maybe you can drop off your car to the mechanic, let them transplant that E60 M5 V10 engine you want into it and go off for your trips?

When you come back everything's would be finished hopefully.

Hows that for an idea :4:

..heheh...for transplantation itself, i was actually thinking to be heavily involved and gets hands totally dirty with that, along eventual other people involved in such process...its a crime to let it all happen without getting dirty by doing it :)

Bro .. Find someone who is reliable and start it at least 2 days once.Five days i didnt start the car and the sixth day , when my wife start it , white smoke came out from the engine . she got panic and called me mentioning 'the engine is on fire' . My world went upside down within seconds. Then i realise ( i have some minor leak from the flywheel gasket - due for changeout while next ATF change ) it could be the gearbox got heated up and burning the oil residues. The next day no more asap or any indication at the idrive . .. lega sikit .

Leave your key with me and I will take good care of her hehehe
