How Often Do you Service your Car?

Hi Sifus, This question comes from someone who doesnt know much about cars ya.. How often should I service my car? Is it dependent on the mileage, or time, or how old the car is? Please help. Thanks so much!!

Primarily, it depends on mileage... About 5,000km for mineral oil... if you're using Semi Syn or full syn, theorectically can stretch longer.

If the car seldom go around, than it's best to service no longer than 6 months interval...

Or you can service every 45 days like what Iceman does....

yes i do change my engine oil every 30~45days without fail... thanks fabianis it waste of money here ... ummmm don't think so cuz now i can re-sell the used engine oil to my mechanic or used in my another car....it's just me and i've tested this teory for the past 47K millage on my old car that's still running without any TOP overhaul and so .... current millage 247K and moving...

i believe changing at every 10,000KM for those on fully synthetic will be great and your car will love u for that (of course if u have budget, change it mayb at 7 or 8K)

bro, i dun really understand your statement, do u mean u have been changing your oil between 30-45 days from 47K until now at 247K without top overall, or do u mean u have been using your own recycle oil for your other car for 47K and still running without overhaul?

BMW is confident that the oil will last 20,000kms.
er.....even after 6000kms, its black as a coon in the dark. letting it still slush around for another 14,000kms? yikes

dear mouse :1) i've been changining oil since i've being told by a so called speciallist that my car needs a TOP overhaul and it's darm sluggish at 190K clocked on the odometer at that time. at 195K millage a friend of mine gave me this theory for a regular oil change can prevent this TOP overhaul and so. so then i've started changing my oil regularly every 30~45 days since 200K millage onwards till today. i've travelled the next 47K without any problem so far.2) i've then been using the used oil from my car (30~45day)car to my 2nd car or sometimes sells it to the mechanic that does my oil change for me.dear danial 1) how long inbetween do i change my oil filter .... at the initial 0~5 times i used to replace my oil filter.1~5 times oil changes --- change each time for the oil filter.6 time --- no need7 time -- no need8 time -- CHANGE9 time -- no need10 time -- no need11 time -- CHANGE hope this clearify you quiries... TQ

How about for those car very very seldom drive..I mean in 9 month of driven for not more than 1000km..should change every 6 month or at least once a year

bro, if your car not even reach 1000KM in 6 month, i think u better change every 6 month instead of 1 year coz (i know some will say 1 year is good enough) but for me, if u r using fully synthetic cost about RM 180, 6 month change 1 time oil = RM 30/month. that is cheaper than what u pay for your monthly parking, hence y take all the worries and stretch it to a year, change every 6 month lor for your peace of mind.
