Hi all ,As the title says, I can see that some models mirrors are electrically folding while the majority aren't.I also saw that those that have the feature must also have a folding switch next to the selector switch.I wonder how much to retrofit this feature to the non-electrically operated folding mechanism?Maybe buy used parts for sure need to buy new switch but how abt the mirrors itself. Is the motor already fitted just awaiting for plug and play? All kind advise highy appreciated.Cheers

I've asked before and the retrofit is not straight forward but involves a bit of work. The reason is because you need to have a computer board, wiring, the switch and foldable side mirror (with motor). If you go for those M5 foldable mirrors, it will cost a few thousand RM. It's quite disappointing that foldable mirror does not come originally.

eh?! I tot all cars come with such functions these days?? Looking at ads in various car magz, the M5 looking thinghi that folds upwards cost somewhere in the region of RM2k onwards...

I thought so too but BMW RM200-300K E60 has no such function by default. It feels stupid to push myself manually sometimes, hahaha

I may be conservative but I prefer certain functions such as folding site mirrors, adjustable seats
or anything like that are manually operated. My experience with a Cherokee jeep (an SUV) stranded for months waiting for replacement of the electrical parts because of malfunctioned electric seat. The last driver electronically adjusted the seat was a small and petite lady driver and no way the next person with an average size could fit in the seat because of the malfunction.

I agree and I have the same thoughts too. Unfortunately it's too expensive just to retrofit the side foldable mirror and I also don't understand why BMW isn't including it as a default option. All modern cars would have this feature and it's so easy to implement :(
