How Frequent must i visit the workshop

I do agree with u about the driving pleasure that a BMW can give.... ahahaha get seriously poisoned when my fren is kind enough to let me test drive his E39, and i love it so much, good and precise handling, good response, comfort .... etc.

Owning a car meaning that we will need to take good care of it, and its a must we will need to spend money to maintain it. But it must have a balance point, hence expensive parts is something that i am most of less prepared for it, but now i am wondering on how durable these parts can be ...

I am more optimistic when i first test drive this 6-7 years old baby, i am impressed with the build.. however not until i saw some repair bills here where there consists of numbers of parts to be replaced, is it necessary? is the quality of the parts that bad that we will need to change it so often? hahahah could it be we are hand itchy

I used to drive waja also but sucks. BMW gives you joy & sheer driving pleasure of an Ultimate Driving Machine. Its not but buying but more on maintain it. Its not bout how much you earn but how much you willing to spent. E39 is still 1 of the best BMW around. More solid feel than E60. Not sure bout F10 coz never test one but already "play" once. Hi,
Actually i am not comparing a ....a BMW .. as its just totally different class
I am just trying using it a an analogy, as u can see, i am expecting the BMW to be much more reliable and durable. .........
....am expecting much more from the E39, afterall this is one of the reason why i am trying to eye on the E39 with the perception of good GERMAN quality.

BTW, i am still aiming for a well balance driving pleasure and durability/reliability. If the BMW will always break down due to parts failure, than no matter how pleasure is it to be driven, i still would not think that its a wise choice for me to own it Spending hours or days in work shop or waiting for hours in the middle of no where to wait for the tow truck to come is definitely not a pleasure thing to do

sad to say, personally I dont think UDM's are that reliable nor durable compare to any other German make ...the JOY of owning a UDM can be short-lived by petty2 problems taking hours to do up by unprofessional bimmer mechanics ..."Sheer Driving Pleasure! naww ....! it definitly can indeed be a Sheer Driving Horror" .. . . but whtever it is, it will still be a UDM for now (till the end of time ..maybe) as I am one sucker of a bimmer lover...:love::love:

Is a BMW more reliable than a Waja? Probably, but not by much.That's not to say that BMW is bad, but more like, despite people's perception of Protons, Waja is quite good in terms of reliability(power window jokes aside).

However, there is a big psychological factor that you have to bear when your BMW breaks down on the side of the road or getting towed in the back of a tow truck,in plain view of the general public. If your Waja breaks down and everyone sees it, they're all like "oh well, s**t happens". But if a BMW breaks down and everyone sees it, they're like "hahaha, BMW pun bleh rosak.Baik pakai Proton je".The humiliation you feel will also be unbearable. You're like "owh, malu! BM aku rosak!".

E39 no doubt 1 of d best ....but still not D best IM. "Solid" feeling is a matter of perspective" and driving one is a matter of preference too. However, I would still prefer an E60 than the older E39, not becoz I owned one but simply becoz I feel safe when driving it (at any speed) ....:top::top:

if u r worried about maintenance and Banyak Masuk Workshop thing, these are my advice:

1. buy from reliable person/owner that love UDM..better still buy from club members
2. join TT..u can learn a lot from there (not forgetting all those racun!)
3. read a lot in this forum..many sifus are willing to extend their help
4. join monthly drive (where u can test ur UDM alongside with other otai) :rock:
5. repeat item 2, 3 and 4

i just dont think waja is more or less reliable than a bimmer..its beyond comparison and totally in a different class..the brand new price can tell the whole story..e39 may look quite old and outdated to some,but it is a mean machine n it brings me back to its glorious moment..waja or any other protons are just for those who prioritize needs than pleasure..its too subjective to discuss here..we shall not let people down due to our displeasure owning one

You do not need to pay frequent visits to the workshop if you have a good and honest mechannic unless you have a major issue. Your mechanice should fix your problem and not return with another issue 2 days later. My last 4 visits to the workshop was only for oil change and Vanos seals. Thats my experience with my RedBabe

Check your cam sensor, exhaust sensor and your vanos sensor and your idle valve. One of these is faulty. I suspect it is your vanos sensor. I had this problem when i first bought the car

if all the above is not faulty then check your head gasket there could be a slight crack that is causing the engine to loose pressure and stall

Damn right bro, the culprit was the cam sensor..sent to mech n solved temporarily with the used sensor,, ordered new item from Bavarian Auto..so far so good..will replace those sensors soonest..thenx for the info..siifoo
