Rear Parking Sensor / Alarm System

Hi all,Just got a 2001 e46 325i CKD. Just wanna ask whether this thing is preinstalled with rear parking system or alarm system? When I put in the reverse gear, no beep whatsover. Tried to reverse parking, still no beep when near the wall. No sound as well when locking / unlocking car (except for the sound of mechanical locking).Should I send to AB to replace the rear parking sensor and alarm system?Thanks.

Mine don't have either. It just goes 'chime' when it is engage in reverse but no regular reverse beep. Wondering how to get ori reverse sensor installed (didn't find the time yet to search the forum) :smokin:

I feel a lil bit weird as BMW dont have this installed as default (or was taken out by the previous owner). converted from waja, and it has rear parking sensor.

Jap spec cars normally dont have parking sensors unless specced when new. they hate it for some reason.

Does your car got this install at the rear bumper? There should be 4 of them along the bumper strip/trim.

Thanks jarance for the pic and you just made my day, as now I am sure I don't have rear parking sensor. Any sifus here have any idea where to install one? As I think is very dangerous without one.

Option 1.

Install 3rd party reverse sensor. In a region of rm300 to rm400. Depends on how many sensors you want. Example UK specs later model of 525 E39 PDC (Parking Distance Control) come with 4 sensors at the back and 4 sensor for front. Visible on the bumper as shown by Jarance pic.

Option 2.

Install original PDC for BMW. Expensive. 1 sensor can cost you in a region of RM300+ each. Not sure about the wiring module itself.

Option 3 :

Install reverse camera but need an LCD for view. It will be good investment to have multimedia Head Unit like Hualingan or Dynavin. Check the thread under E46 and Group buy for details.

Hmm, but i think mine is not j spec. Assembled in Malaysia.

Heh but I dont think I need the reverse camera. U're right jarance, racun. Probably going to retrofit some 3rd party PDC, if I can find one.

You can retrofit the PDC but I think you need to get the thing coded.
