Willie , your E36 lamp is not old.. It is just dirty only.. Remove one of the round glass lens (cut the silicon glue) and clean the glass. Due to long exposure to dust, it tends to accumulate a fine coat of dust.. note.. if you want to clean to chrome reflector, just use a very soft cloth and water only. (Somebody recommend the camera cleaning brush) Slowly wipe it. the chrome will come out quite easily if you rub too hard.. so be careful.if you want to change the front glass due to stone chip, I heard that you can get it for about RM200 plus.. from BA.

Sorry to hijack thread ....

Jarence, remember we were talking about the plastic mould for the angel eyes? I bumped into one of my coursemates who specialises in the plastic/polymer industry and we had a short chat about it ... he's says that it can be done.

Actually quite easy. I will try to do it in detail later.
Better still, join us at the Klang TT and I will show it to you. It is much easier that way. :D
BTW, welcome to the club. Where are you situated?

Last time checked at First Division, RM1,600 or RM1,800 for the E36 Hella Angel Eyes set.
Hi Guys where to get the Hella Angle Lamps and what is the current selling price?

Guys,

I'm a bit confused! So which one is better in terms of value for money? those CCFL kits that you have to D.I.Y into your current lights or the complete Hella set.... in the long term which one prevails? Advice is appreciated Guru's. I also read somewhere that CCFL is brighter than Hella.... is this true? Bottomline, which one lasts longer?

CCFL and hella angel eye last about 20,000 hours.
However, CCFL colour can change due to the exposure to sunlight, the phosperous in the CCFL will lose it "glow" property over time.

hella angel eye use lumiled. It is one of the brightest LED in the market.

In terms of brightness, Hella LED is brighter but in actual CCFL is much more brighter. Why? because for CCFL, the whole lamp light up whereas the Hella only reflected the light around around the rims.

Pro CCFL.
very bright
Con CCFL
expensive, need inverter (not so reliable), high voltage (dangerous)

Pro Hella.
Medium bright, low voltage or power cunsumption
Con Hella
expensive, not as bright as CCFL.

If the lifespan of the lamps last about 20,000 hr usage, it will last you about 15 years for 3 hours everydays.

Anyone tried the HID angle lamps from Taiwan cost about RM310 c/w ballast.
RM310 is cheap.
can give more specification or detail.

eg.

1. colour spec - 6500K.
2. warranty - 1 year.
3. replacement part - ballast and bulb
4. type of bulb used.
5. installation cost?

a picture of the product would be nice to see.

aiyaa... try about one hour to dismantle the glass cover from it holding. The glue is holding the cover very tight. Can't open it. Broke a piece of the glass while trying to open the cover. Give up after that. Need to think of a better way to open the glass cover. Any idea? Any suggession is welcome. :eek:k:
