One of my headlights (Left side) level/height cannot be adjusted (from the switch in the cabin, like one in the pic below). Now I can only adjust it using manual knob above the headlight. I cant also hear any movement on the left sight. Does the levelling mechanism is separate or come together with the headlight? Hope for the former, else, would need to replace the headlight (if want to rectify it).

check whether the actuator is dislocated from the reflector housing first.

you can do this by opening the plastic cover and see whether it is loose. if it is loose, you have to realign it and lodge the round knob into it proper position

Bro azel_Inc....
I think the control mechanism kaput already...
Try to contact bro yazmeen for further analysis...

The situation u facing is like actuator jammed. Take out the actuator to service. If just only jammed, it can be use again.

Are you sure? The right side is working and only the left side is faulty.

This might not true. To confirm this is very easy. Take the right side actuator and put at the left side to test. If its working meaning the left side actuator has problem

Just my though only may be not...
Afterall its nside the headlamp right not the switch...
Since bro yazmeen normally do headlamp...
If I'm wrong sorry just trying to help...

Nothing wrong in trying to help. offer your help if you have personal experience with the problem.
It would be appreciated by most of us.

pss..sstt yazmeen polish/restore headlamp lar (good works too).
but different thing when come to electrical troubleshooting but I could be wrong.

For the E36 headlamp, the actuator can be removed without dismantling the headlamp.

For the E46, the actuator is located inside the headlamp and you have to dismantle the whole headlamp
to get to the actuator.

Open the read of the headlamp for the hight beam. push the bulb. If it can move forward and backward, it mean that the
actuator is dislocated from it slot.

Thx bro volvo525

I think the actuator( but i call it the HVAC motor) is the same as the E38/39 (based on the photo by jarance). I have plenty of those. PM me for details

Since he polish the headlamp, may as well repair it. I have suggested to him to go beyond e38, e46 and e39 as there are plenty of e90s and e60s wanting the actual white LED angel eyes.

Good morning bro azel...
did your headlamp prob solved...
Hope it is solved already by now...

thanks...i think the problem was due to dislocated actuator. I unscrewed few headlight screws, 'godek2' sket and screwed it back, then it works! haha..
i think it wasnt properly secured when the workshop replaced the headlight the other day.

Thanks!
