Just got my ride diagnosed confirmed to be pressure sensor & steering angle sensor fault. Will try to erase the code for now & monitor how it goes. 2 x pressure sensor is estimated to be RM1k while steering angle sensor is whopping RM1.8k!

on ECS, these parts is nowhere near the estimated cost that you posted

pressure sensor $110 each (total is $220)

steering angle sensor $220
http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/32306793632/ES260287/

How do you confirm this? What if changing the sensor doesn't fix it? How can all three sensors fail at the same time?

bro aidil, I was surprised initially at the price quoted by the mech as well. prolly that includes workmanship? I did check the prices via realoem and was around what you have provided.

I do think mine was only due to the pressure sensor alone instead of with the steering angle sensor as the prior to this there was once only the DSC light pops up due to very bad steering angle after replacement of steering rack, which once the alignment is done, the DSC error light went off.

when diagnosed this morning, 2 errors history shown, 1 is the the pressure sensor and another is the angle sensor.

the DSC and brake error light has been intermittently on and off previously. and always shown only when I am cruising at high speed. will be going down to Malacca tomorrow and see how it goes.

Hi my fellow UDM buddies,

Finally, took my E46 318i for a 'check up' and the result was the break pump gone case already. the mechanic mentioned it needs to be changed / replaced and it cost around RM2k +/-.

the mechanic did a reset and th light went off and when I started to drive back (not even 50 meters) the light came back (the mechanic told me this could happen again after the reset) and fair enuff it did.

Sifu's, I would want to check with you guys how much a new / recond break pump will cost? is it better to replace a new or a recond one? You advise is very much appreciated.

Veera, you may call MK Auto Parts Kepong to get a quote. They deal in halfcut parts.

Veera,

Brake pump can be repaired with repair kit. Think one of our members Vincent Hor repaired his pump. Try to pm him for advice.

Veera,

agreed with Herbert. Repair kit = RM250 + svc charge. It will be good enough. If anything, pls pm me

Bro Herbet & Helmi, thank you so much for the advice. Let me check out again with the mechanic on the break pump repair option.... :)

Fault light popped up again today during high speed cruising with cruise control on. Diagnosed & steering angle sensor faulty. Replacement & workmanship costs RM1.2k with 2hrs job. :(

Chuan Seng, Taiping. Regular mech is in KL but fault light popped up on the way to Taiping. Was told recoding is required after replacement using v44 DIS/GT1.

ya, my mechanic also told me the same thing. need to re-code. so was the 1.2k include re-code? if did not re-code, the error will still be there right?

Yeap. Recode is required as fault code still exist even after replacement. 1.2k os inclusive of everything. Do share out the costs for yours as well for information sake as I did not checked with BA on part price & only refer to ECS Tuning for reference with price of $222 for parts & $70 for delivery charges.

Removal & installation of new sensor took 2-3 hours in total.

i went to happy motor yesterday, was quoted rm1100 sensor+installation+re-code.
He ask me to double confirm the root cause with some other place first before change the sensor.
But so far, most of the scanner(GT1/BMWScanner/etc) said that "Steering Angle Sensor". Viewed the live data, the angular value did not change at all while steering

Mine happened interminently for around 1k km (fault code went off everytime car is restarted & erased once) before the fault code is permanently on despite erase. Did you manage to check for part price alone from Bavarian Auto or other suppliers?

UPDATE: i bought the sensor from Bavarian Auto, cost me Rm900. Took it to my mech, get it replaced. But sadly, the error is still there. I'm not sure whether he recode+calibrate it correctly or not as i was not there.
He ask me to take my car to BMW Dealer, which i did yesterday. The tech then told me, my Instrument Cluster got error, replacing+coding the instrument panel could solve all the problem

Have you seek second opinion on the instrument cluster error? Which error popped up during diagnostic? The steering angle sensor or the instrumen cluster?

In my case, the error still there despite replacement and recoding was required. Been driving for almost 2k km without any errors.

Error as bellow:

1. KOMBI:Internal Fault, instrument cluster
2. ABS/DSC: Steering angle sensor, internal

ya, now i'm looking for 2nd,3rd opinion......

do u mean, after replace ur sensor also still got the error? then after recode only the error gone?
