Do the above models fit the Malaysia diesel which is Euro 2 only?2. Anything I need to take note in buying the above models?3. Roughly how much tax I need to pay to kastam if the car is 2008 model and the engine capacity is 3000cc diesel?4. Is there any method to calculate the tax?5. Euro-spec diesels aren't really suited to Malaysian diesel for many reasons.
Their engines are tuned for Euro V/IV standards. Using Euro 2M diesel on these engines will most definitely cause problems.
Among the first thing to go will be the diesel particulate filter, which would get clogged with the excess soot produced by burning Euro 2 quality diesel.

Until Malaysia catches up with Europe on diesel quality, my recommendation is to either buy an official local diesel model from Malaysia or stick to the petrol models.

I am thinking to get the UK X6 30d because this model got the same engine as BMW X5 30d which is currently selling by the BMW malaysia therefore I would assume X6 30d will fit the malaysia diesel, am i right? do you have friends who are currently driving UK X6 30d in malaysia? thank you

Every manufacturer prepares their cars differently for different markets. The diesel models in Malaysia have modifications made to them at the factory before they are sold here.

Primarily, the cars lack the Diesel Particulate Filter and have the Filter Regeneration Cycle on the engine ECU disabled. The tuning of the engine is also often modified, with less aggressive fuel map/boost pressure to take into account the lower quality of diesel here.

The difference between Euro II and Euro V diesel is quite significant. Running a Euro V/IV engine on Euro II fuel is simply asking for trouble.

However, you can still bring in your X6 3.0d as long as you budget some $$ to "localize" your X6 at the official dealers or BMW specialists.
This will involve the removal of the DPF filter (which then necessitates a change of your exhaust manifold and pipes) and the reprogramming of the engine ECU to calibrate it for local diesel.

Thank you very much for the info. Do you know how much will it cost to 'localize' an UK BMW X6 diesel?
