Hi all,

It didn't hit me until my wife complain about the lack of height adjustment for her seat. When I tested it, the height adjustment is very little...?

What I mean is the distance it travels is approximately 1cm in height difference. At the moment the seat is quite low and I'm not sure if this is normal. Any takes on this matter?

Okay...so it doesn't just apply for my own car. Any more feedback from the rest?

This is just my opinion ok,

The 'low' seating position in the F30 is a deliberate design concept by BMW. The idea is to make you feel 'surrounded' by the car, rather than a higher seating position which would make you feel like you are 'sitting on' the car.

The E46 has that 'higher' seating position, which does give a sense of better visibility when looking out.

I suppose modern technology like sensors front and back, and surround camera etc does not make it necessary for you to be seating so high up until your head touches the ceiling.

Mushaini, if your fact is correct, then it should allows such adjustment flexibility due to different people will have different height. The car should design for such flexibility though.

Yeah I like the low height position but my other half does not hence the reason why all seats have adjustments...just that the one we have in our cars have limited adjustment for height. We didn't really notice it while testing it out but after a month or two in the car then only it kicks in that something is off comparing to our previous car.

I think, the fact that we are talking about a German ie European car, may mean that its designed range is more suited to larger sized people. Generally, we Asians are 'smaller' people, so even the highest setting may not be high enough. More so that these SKD cars were designed, manufactured and fabricated over there. It is only assembled here. Maybe this is the price to pay in order to drive the ultimate driving machine ...

I just found out that my front passenger seat does indeed have a problem as the maximum height of the seat cannot match the driver seat when set to max height. I've just gotten a similar courtesy car from my dealer and that car's front passenger seat is able to match the height of the driver seat so I notified the service manager to have a look at it while the troubleshoot the other issues with my car.

The first thing I noticed when I test drove the F30 is the low seat height despite adjusting it to the max. I like to sit all the way up despite being a 5' 10" fella. Oh we'll, I've gotten used to it already by now.

The only real complain I have interior wise, is that the inside door handle is a little too near the hinge. As a result, it takes more effort to close the door compared to when the handle is as far as possible from the hinge. I hope I'm making sense here, it's like playing a see saw, the further away you sit from the centre point, the easier and lower you touch the bottom of the floor.

Sean, could you please share with us with photo after SC adjusted your seats ?
Sure but I think it will be hard for you to make it out. You can actually tell if yours has a problem. Both front passenger and driver seat can reach the same height and both seats height adjustment are actually quite flexible and you have a lot of room to play around with the adjustment to find your sweet spot but sadly on my own car the front passenger height adjustment is limited hence the seat max height is lower than the driver max height. I'm just hoping the service manager didn't forget to relay this issue to his techie after I called in to raise this issue to be rectified along with the vibrating sound and the scratches they made while trying to fix it.

Yeah bro I understand your concerns as my previous car had its handle more to the middle but it was of a different design compared to the BMW. I know they can't put the handle right smack in the middle as it will block your arm from resting or controlling the switches but maybe move it an inch more to the middle? I guess that's for them to decide after listening to customer's feedback.
