The computer showed O2 sensor faulty and also accelerator pedal sensor faulty ......after one week without doing anything, test again, and no fault found.Has anyone ever experienced this? Computer problem or car problem?

my good friend..

sometimes it's okay, some times it's mad.. dun worry about it.. is your car heavy on fuel cumpsumtion ?

maybe just reset the ecu by removing the battery for half a night.. see whats happens after that..

regards.

Ha ha, sometimes our Beemer will merajuk and demand extra attention. So just give it additional TLC lor....:D . Same same with my SLOTH... sometimes it behaves and sometimes it throws a tantrum. This CNY it threw a tantrum... hard to start, idles like shite and aircon not working. This morning when I wanted to take it to the "hospital", it behaved... go figure. But I am still getting the aircon checked out.

Stud_Daddy,

I once experienced exactly what you are experiencing right now. O2 sensor message in the fault code reader came together with number 77 message "Throttle position sensor 2, plausibility, range or performance". These two messages always come together if there is a fault in the O2 sensor. If this happens intermittenly or does not register permanently it is a sign that the O2 sensor is about to be be changed. If both messages have been registered permanently, meaning the system has succesfully isolates the O2 sensor. When this happens your car might stall. What you experience right now is a genuine fault. I recommend you change the O2 sensor. Or, you might want to wait a little while longer (approximately 2 to 3 days from now) for the fault to permanently register. Then, try to reset it. If unable to reset, you can be rest assured that your O2 sensor needs replacement. The second option is more economical and a smarter choice.

Thanks for sharing. I check it out again today to see if the fault is still there. Would you happen to know how much is the O2 sensor? I need to plan to pawn my butt in Haadyai.

The price varies depending of the model (CAR, not WOMAN) you drive. For E39, I paid less than RM400. I got it from Autobavaria. If I get it elsewhere, the price might be cheaper. Don't tell me your butt worth less than RM400..:D :D

Pimp daddy.... opps sorry... I mean Stud_Daddy.....

Similar problem with my 2003 E46 325i. Was at Dr. Meng (M-Speed) a week ago before C.N.Y for just regular service and when he did a system check he found fault code with "Air Flow MUX". AFM I believe, expensive to replace.

I was furious because the car was in another workshop a couple of days ago to replace gaskets to the engine housing and I thot those clowns may have mucked up the sensors. Ah Meng however did a "calibration" of my keys, then did another check and .... wah lah... no fault code..... I did another check 2 days ago at Ah Mengs and it was fine.....

Anyways, the Ah-Meng is a real legend... he really knows the E46 and it's problems very well, and his pricing is great, he packages it very well and is very fair with his pricing, pretty much takes your mind off it.

No problem........Pimp Daddy is my less-glamorous daytime work name.

You mentioned that he "calibrated" your keys...........what exactly does that mean? Thanks.
Its late, I'm lonely.......I think I'll go "calibrate my key" now.

Stud_Daddy, good question and the same one I put forward to Ah-Meng @ M Speed. But, he's not exactly the most eloquent of car mechanics and in halting English, this is what I think he meant.

The memory chip in the BMW E46 stores some information about the car. I think it even has mileage information and also stores some configuration info about the car. For instance, you can store profile of how the car re-acts everytime you lock/unlock the car, the lights in the passenger cabin will come on when you lock it.

Also, when you start your air-conditioner, you can set it to always start with circulating Internal Air or if you wish, set your profile to always start with circulated external air.

Can anyone else confirm?

the key justs store the following info:

1. milage
2. vin and code number
3. ownership of the car
4. ews I,II,III & IV codes

i think thats all..
