I was rather indifferent between M Grey and M Red.

Finally chose Red since its the signature colour of F30 Sport line.

Next addition wil most likely be a shade of grey

I keep looking at mine under the porch.
Saat,

Wanna ask you for advice.....I found that the Mineral Grey very good looking, there is a certain" electric" from the shines if it is kept nice and shine..but....It will look a bit dull and ordinary if covered with dust ( so as anything else if covered with dust I know, but you get what I mean right?). in general it is a very 小气colour。

So, I just wanna ask in order to keep the shine effortlessly, have you go for any coating or film wrapping ?
it is not my thing to have to wash the car every week or every 2 week.

But the signature colour for M sport is actually the Estoril Blue right? why didn't you got for the Blue to match the stripe on the dash?

Yes the mineral grey has that effect. It needs to be maintained to look good all the time. But less than the other colours. The space grey was the easiest.

I do have my F30 regularly washed. It gets a wax every month. It's a year old and I have only polished it once. It still looks good.

I did not do any coating and after comparing some of the current condition of coated cars, I do not find the difference.

Oops time for a wash and wax.

I am pretty sick of my space grey colour. It always look dirty hahaha. Somehow I like estoril blue or the yas marina blue :D

Grey are somewhat a practical color of choice. Doesn't really bling therefore if you skip washing for a month or so, the ability to still camouflage surface dirt quite well. I have a black one now, and it's quite taxing to keep it looking clean.

Just flex my muscles yesterday to wash and wax using the meguiar's ultimate wax paste. Just bought it and still ada semangat :)

Comes together with application pad and quality microfiber cloth in the packing.

I wish I can be as enthusiastic as some of you guys to wash and wax your car regularly by yourself. I cannot la. Just don't have the urge or energy to wash my own car. After owning my car for almost 2 years now, I have only wash my car twice by myself. Still have almost full bottle or car shampoo that I bought when I first took delivery of my car. Most of the time just go Indian car wash. My car alpine white, super difficult to wash and maintain.

My grey has plenty of stone chips at the front and at the hood. It deserves a spray hahaha.

I just did a Permanon layer onto my car...took me 3.5 hours in total to prep the body then apply...never gonna do it again but to see how effective it works in beading the water after I applied it was priceless. I'd also avoid the usual car wash fellas at petrol stations or those rag tag ones. Bad experience with them making swirl marks onto the car paint so I send to detailers to wash my car as they do open up the engine bay to clean and use small brushes to clean the air cond vents.

How does Permanon perform against conventional wax in terms of longevity, bird poops protection, water mark, stone chips? Do let us know after some duration of use. I only use conventional wax through out all my auto ownership since and quite pessimistic on coating products. I enjoy having a new coat of wax every other month either done myself or thru detailer.

Particularly on car wash by drive thru machine, untrained foreigner, I will totally avoid having my car wash by these folks. They will introduce swirl mark and micro scratches on the surface and it will be a nightmare on dark color especially black.

I was like you bro - using wax all the way until one of the detaling shops had a Permanon promo so I tot why not try and see since its cheap. I'm on my second coat now as the first one was applied by the detailers back in August 2013. Here are my impressions on the coating.

- It can only last around 6 months or lesser (if you park your car out in the open all the time) with all our rain coming down during monsoon season. I think applying it during the dry season will give you slightly longer period of effectiveness. Mine lasted around 8-9 months as my car was mostly parked away from sun and rain.
- Does not protect against stone chips and water marks are still present when it dries unless you are hardworking enough to wipe away excess water especially when you don't drive it and its parked there under the rain next to a main road where there is much dust then you see all the water marks mixed with dust.
- Easier to clean bird poops and other dirty stuff.
-Once you apply the coating, maintenance of the coat is easy. You just wash like normal and wax/polish not required like other coating. Love the fact that when you drive around 90kmh your car is beading and when you arrive at your destination say in a basement or somewhere covered, your car isn't as wet as other cars and it looks like the rain is washing the car for you.

Its actually pretty easy to apply Permanon. All you need is to just mix the solution with water and spray onto the paint until you see the water solution starts to bead then you wipe dry. Its the prep work that is tiring as you need to remove every single dirt stain including tar before you apply the coating. Having a clay bar helps.

But saying that, I think I will only use Permanon if they have a promotion for it and I'll let the pros do it for me. Too lazy to do it myself and I kinda left my car without any coating or wax for 6 months and all the road tar started piling up on the paint and it was a nightmare to remove each one of it.
