Comrades, as all of us are well aware that the current audio systems sucks. However, I had checked with BMW dealer, it is not allow for any form of upgrade or replacement of the audio systems as it will VOID THE WARRANTY. Please take note....we have to live with it until the warranty is expired.

Two years ain't long....which is a bad thing for us actually haha. Still thinking why can't BMW Malaysia increase it to 3 years to be on par with the rest of the industry besides being a cost issue in which isn't a problem as they are selling a lot of cars lately.

If u would compare 320i against C Class, a clear price difference of around 30K. So, they are ways to recover the cost by reducing the package offered such as warranty period, accesories.

A lot of other mods also voids the warranty. Easiest way to mod without getting too many issues with warranty is getting those parts which are plug and play. I understand that I saw the F30 has some Harmon Kardon plug and play mods? Not too entirely sure about it.

i didn't even bother about the 2 yrs warranty. aftermarket parts and specialist workshops do better than stock oem parts and service centres. i just fixed my steering "knocking" sound after changing to titan shocks.. and already begun replacing some of other parts with aftermarket parts.

it took me a year and 3 trips to the service centre to get the knocking issue fixed, but after that the sound is still there! talking about frustration. with or without warranty doesn't make a difference anymore if you have to go through all these shit.

Its a serious issue when the SC cannot solve a problem but a 3rd party SC can solve it. I'd like to believe that there is still hope in our country when we bring these issue to light with the BMW management.

I am not sure how they share best practices among all dealers. If they do have a common database for quick reference, then it shouldn't take such a long time to resolve these common issues that occurred across all regions.

sorry to hijack your thread! even if you have changed the audio systems, this should only void the audio system or maybe other related accessories. if you have a major gearbox failure and BMW don't honor the warranty just because you have changed the audio system.. you have something to bring it up to consumer tribunal or any other consumer bodies.

Humms, I am not sure how such warranty works. They can link the audio systems to iDrive and then it affects the engine or gearbox timing. It is up to them to say, just be careful.

Anyone installed the Alpine System by BMW instead? Any reviews and does anyone know the price?

I'm unfortunately kinda desperate for a better audio system!

I did changed my speakers and added amplifiers & eq to it. My dealer don't seem to have a problem with it on warranty as it only voids the parts I have changed. The service manager event came to try out my set up.
The only thing that is really involved with the iDrive system is the audio output. You're not sending any signals into the iDrive at all. It's the iDrive that sends signals out to your speakers and amps. So I really don't think there is a way that it could mess up your iDrive together with the entire car system. But beware when your audio guy trying to tap a power source for your amps and such. I tap my power source directly from the battery itself so I don't mess with their internal wiring. That could mess up your car system. So what I have done also void my battery warranty if there is any LOL.

I'm sure if the dealer trying to void your warranty you can fight them back easily. Most of them working at sales or after sales don't even have proper technical background. -_-

I recently went to test drive a car. The sales person asked me how is my 320d doing? I said it's very fun to drive with lots of "Torque". He replied... "Owh the car tok tok tok a lot ah?" LOL! I tried my very best not to laugh at him!

You mean a BMW sales person replied that?! Please don't tell me they have that kind of ignorant sales people..

Another slap in the face for BMW for having a customer solving its own problem!

i had this knocking sound experience in my last Toyota Altis before. I have this issue on the very first week after collected the car. Sent back to the SC many times, still unable to identify the root cause. The SC manager told me, it was due to the body metal rubbing. So, i have lived with this knocking sounds for 7 years before i sell off my car. However, it doesn't affect the car performance, just the irritating sound.

BMW has really crappy stock audio systems.

the Peugeot 508 is pretty good with its JBLs.

Even if you compare the F30 with the C Class and the A4 it will comes out bottom of the three. The stock audio system in the A4 is pretty impressive.

Yup. The f30 sound system needs a major overhaul.

A250 sound system is also better

Am thinking of adding a sub and power amp

Road noise is worser than the 508
