Greetings everyone.I really need some help and advice from all the old timers here. Saying that i have a chance to get a very good deal to bring japan's F10 520d back to malaysia. And yes it is a recon. The price are good. The runner looks promising and d deal look illegal. Do anyone have an experience, either bad or good on dealing with recon car? What are the things that i need to do before or after i get the car?Or is there any words or advice about anything related. Thanks in advance

unless the price is very very very very good, else get from local bmw , most mechanic outside who specialize in bmw does not know diesel yet only petrol variant . give it few more year they will lar.
also local 520D is diffrent from other 520d extra 2 option
1. Hot climate pack
2. DPF deleted.

does it come with a lot of extras? otherwise no. japan spec recon cars used to be super high specs once but lately the units they are bringing in are very bare.

The condition looks good. From picture larr... The real unit still in japan...
In term of price, yes. It is very very very low. If i buy it, and sell it next year pun i strongly believe still got untung..:)

My main concern, will the car is usable when it comes to malaysia? Or do i need to do some mod?

I would be wary when it comes to diesel cars from Japan simply because of the poor diesel quality we have here in Malaysia. Currently we are running on only Euro 2M diesel wheras else where, people are talking about Euro 5.

Based on some research on the www, Japan appears to be one step ahead (probably overzealous?) and has introduced the "New Post Long-Term Regulations" in October 2009 which covers passanger cars and light duty vehicles. The said "New Post Long-Term Regulations" have pretty similar stringency to the Euro 6 standards (which is touted to only come into effect in 2014 in other countries. Malaysia is only talking about Euro 4 in 2014!!!).

Premised on the above, diesel cars in Japan are made to run on cleaner diesel fuel and I would assume that such engines would not be suitable for our Euro 2M diesel here.

Is d diff between those 2 gave such a big impact. Or its more like ron 95 and 97?

if you buy now you save money now the money you save can be use to repair the car ;)

I believe it is expensive to repair/replace DPF, as I imagine the Japanese spec would come with the Filter and with Euro 2M Diesel (

11.5L/100km is really high for a diesel.
And it is not the driver's fault. I average 7L/100km in my 520d, and I push it harder than the Actyon. Might be the dpf constantly regenerating to clean itself of the excessive sulphur from our euro 2m diesel.

How much the cost to replace the DPF? Happen to be, my unit is imported from UK. But currently the car is at Japan. I believe it born as a euro spec. Does DPF also a prob for euro spec?

DPE is around 6 ~7k Euro .
so factor it in plus malaysia mechanic who shun diesel as they have no ideal about it , prepare to pay a bomb.

its capex or opex situation lar. why do you think still got people buy from BMW malaysia if grey car is cheaper.

Local mechanics still dont have the facility to delete the DPF yet? With proper coding and remap etc?

I know there is a company in UK already offering the service.
