HiI came across a 325i E92 coupe under premium selection selling at RM319k. Managed to nego the price down to RM315k in which the SA refused to bring down anymore. Is that a good buy? Im concerned about the reliability of the 325i after a few years and also the fact that E9x will be phased out next year. Registration year is June 2011 and manufacture year is April 2010.Milleage at 1500km.Hence, it still comes with the warranty and BSRI.

To be honest, the depreciation would definitely be quite a bit 2-3 years down the road :) Part of the reason is because our cars are too expensive due to taxes and newer models would carry the same price tag. If you're buying from AB, I would not be worried about the warranty and condition of the car as everything is covered but if you're concerned about the value depreciation, I can say it will definitely be a sad thing to talk about, lol

Good point there.

How bad was the E46 hit when E90 was launched in 05?

Any other points to consider prior to signing the dotted lines?

that sounds like a great deal. Super low milege, full warranty, almost new car with all the LCI goodies

I can't think of any since yours is fully covered with warranty so it's basically like a new car :) Perhaps ask for some freebies?

Go for 335i for that money, only if you're a petrolhead.

Yeah, paying MR 315K for a 325i coupe or not, doesn't jive. Go for the 335i coupe.

Agree, I rather get a 335, with the money left, done it up nicely before I start driving. U get the best of both world, I6 and turbo!!!

I worry the 325i is gonna be very slow. A coupe to cruise down Sunset Boulevard with, not to race down the deserts of Death Valley.

I think it's a give and take thing. No doubt we can get an AP recond 335i for that price but then again, those are used car from the UK/Japan. AP cars (like mine) doesn't even have warranty, dealer isn't honest, etc. You'll end up with lots of problems if your unit is a lemon :(

I'd like to get a 335i if you ask me, 325i is boring and slow nowadays...David Yong got a pretty darn good 335i UK spec, not really an issue. Just need to bring some guys to view and test out the car b4 you buy. Check the service history if its a UK spec, easier and safer. Ask david. GL.

THanks for all the reply.

A recon 325 coupe seems to be going for 260-280k for a 2008 model with 20k milleage which might be fake and without warranty and BSRI.

Perhaps a piece of mind is what im after. My last car was an Rx8 ( real pain in the bum to maintain ). exige and recently a brabus tuned smart roadster. All are great fun to drive. But the age factor is coming in where 0-100 in 5 sec is not important anymore. The roadster cant do that in reality, but the combination of sound, the fact that your bum is 4 inches from tarmac, makes it feels like its faster than that. 60kmh feels like 60mph. And 130kmh really makes the heart pump fast.

More important is decent enough power ( tested the 325 and 335), and comfortable ride. Was even thinking of a 320i coupe at one point.

Have lots of butterflies in the stomach when i signed for it, perhaps due to the fact that this is the most expensive of the cars i have bought so far, and its a bimmer ( reliability )?

Jasa baik tuan tuan & puan puan di sini, may i know what is the common problem with the 325 engine. Since this is the late model E92 ( CBU ), most of the problems should be ironed out right? Read about the bolts breaking, ticking sound, and makan engine oil. Has those problems been solved? Any new 325 owners would like to share?

Even after placing the booking for the 325 coupe, the golf GTI is always behind my mind.

Now with 5 years warranty, takes off the headache in owning a high maintenence car.

Bro, NA I6 of BMW is a very mature engine. You ride it for 100k km and change your oil frequently, it still sound pretty much the same. Compare a Japanese car when 0 vs 100k km, you know what. It's rock solid but you just need more attention on the maintenance. Perhaps some oil leak, but these are not very much an issue. You may also face problem like it consume soem engine oil in the initial stage. Perhaps our users can tell you more.

My M54B is just lovely. Yes, it's not the fastest machine, but it's fine with me. It's enough for everyday use. The I6 just sounds good, and if you keep your rpm in the right range, it can be quite a fast machine. Wait till you take your first corner with the 50:50 and RWD, then you will even appreciate it more. You won't regret it. It's a well balanced machine.

Unless you are a power freak, then may be GTI is a better choice, but go check out their website about the T&C of what's covered in warranty and what's not. Then you think about it one more time.

Actually the engine is fine most of the time, I'm sure most people would agree. However for a BMW car, it's filled with sensors all over the place and you don't know which one and when it would fail :) I bought an AP car, it looks beautiful, mechanic checked it but let's be reasonable, will the mechanic take responsibility for something he missed out or he is wrong about during the check? A normal OBD check will also not reveal when one of these sensors would die or if the injector would fail, etc. It can only tell you that everything is fine at that point in time. On the other hand, 90% of the time, mileage has been tampered.

After buying an AP recond myself, I can surely say that my next BMW would either be a used local CKD or direct from authorized BMW distributors like Ingress or AB. A premium selection car is definitely a better choice (if one can afford) because if something is broken like the sensors or cables, etc, it's easily thousands of RM but is covered by warranty. For AP cars, we're on our own.

There's obviously a risk to take and the choice is ours :) It comes down to personal preference surely but I think people should weight the pros/cons before really deciding to go for an AP car.

AP 335i vs AB 325i are 2 very diffrent cars

really depends whether u want a smooth headache free cruiser...or a riskier monster that will eat GTI's and most other cars on KL roads

I spent almost 15k on my AP 335i after i got it, just to sort out wear and tear etc. The car kevin is considering...can drive off, not spend a sen for next 5 years.

just fyi...2 of my good frens with AP 335, both had fuel pump failures recently...thankfully its only about 1300 to replace

I think 335i are on N53 so that's why the fuel pump failed? Dirty fuel from our pumps could be the reason or was it something else?

unlikely be our fuel, one failed after less then 15k km, the other failed off the boat, replaced under dealer goodwill

Deposit paid, loan approved, even sent my old car in already. Will get the car once im back from overseas in a few weeks.

Is it a good price since the year is about to end and the car is about 2 years ( Manufacturing is Apr 2010 )?

Im not familiar with depreciation rate for beemers. I understand its not a Honda or Toyota. My last car was hit quite bad.
