Hi Guys,

Im searching for a 2nd hand 325i from used car dealers.
I would like to bring a mechanic to assess the car.

1) Can anyone recommend a good mechanic near jln kuching / kepong.

2) Besides test drive and visual inspection, will an used car dealer allow to send the machine to workshop for more detailed assessment.

Not all the parts are a lot cheaper. However sometime it is still a lot different betw original and aftermarket. Take the windows lifter as an example, price quite a lot different. I found this from Eng Soon. So the mechanic in Malaysia may use the aftermarket one but charge original one. I am not 100% fancy to the original BMW one as long as the aftermarket one is from a trusted brand name and a lot cheaper.

1) Can anyone recommend a good mechanic near jln kuching / kepong.

You can try:
1. Bomin Auto @ Jalan Ipoh. Ask for John Lai.
2. M1 @ Segambut. Ask for Ah Meng.

Expect to be charged around RM50-RM100 (not more) for them to visually inspect the car. Ask for diagnostics as well. Make sure they check:
- engine (sludge, abnormal vibration)
- gearbox (move the car from N or P into Reverse and hear if there is a THUD sound - most common thing for used BMs. Not serious problem though, but can pscho the used salesman a bit la...)
- suspension (absorber leaking, worn arm bushings)
- body (ask the mechs to look for signs of major accident damage at the engine bay, boot etc. Small bumps can be negligible la...

If you want more detailed inspection you can also try AB @ Segambut but they are pricey (I think around RM200) and you need to make an appointment before hand.

Oh and these places are slightly further into KL but just off Jalan Kuching.

INSIST that they let you bring to a workshop. If they don't just walk away. And ask a friend who has a Beemer (same model preferably) to come along with you. You can ask me to come along also la but must belanja teh tarik hahahaha.

Just repaint my UDM E46 to white color and touched up on the other parts and also fixed the hammock roof...they change fixed the roof and all 4 pillar to M3 black material...look like new car already

Damage : RM2400

anybody knows where to find the special tool for locking water pump pulley? and mostly water leaking are from water pump o-ring or thermostat housing? tq to BMW Guru.
