If I were you, for weekend toys should be the JAP car..any how u own a bimmer already right...Agree like what Tony had mentioned, its a different league

Unfortunately the E92 M3 can't even beat a 15 year old stock Supra.

The price of the M3 is always on top, that is so true.

E92 M3 and the 15 years old stock Supra is totally different thing, if u want to compare, y not compare a 20 years old american Mustang with a Supra ?

I do agree since u have a bimmer, y not option for a GTR for a weekend drive. Always bimmer will make a person a dull boy...
just my 2 cents

Not sure if you've the chance to drive both cars, but once you drive it.. you'll love it.
I was lucky enough to drive around a friends gtr34 with ard 500hp and its awesome

500hp is damn large man....if u put wing at both side can fly already...:)

Hahaha i agree! every gear change gets the adrenalin going.. ecstacy

If u do have plans to track it, i think its a tiny bit 'cheaper' to go Japanese rather than conti (both maintenance n upgrade waise). And remember that the RB26 is solid as a rock, even after numerous upgrades....

I have seen 2 videos of Adam's E46 M3 CSL against his buddy's modded white R34 GTR. On the track the CSL totally ciak the GTR mainly in braking and round the tighter bends.

The other video saw the same 2 cars doing a straight line drag, and CSL basically ate GTR dust big time hehe.

Just to share some thoughts with all...

between the GT-R and the M3 is different make for it's each potential abilities to run and handle.

Dun be fooled !!

the GT-R is for a straight line speed.. the car spec rating is 280bhp for it's stock standard and THE car is tuned to handle that much power.. it's take corners well..

As for the M3, it's tuned to 341bhp, and it's tuned to handle that much power..so to so the M3 credibilities is astonishing that it out beats a JDM anytime..

SO why worry when a GT-R turns up in your rearview mirror ? it's just has a souped up more than 280bhp versus the 341 you ride on..they laugh when they pass a UDM, especially a M3.. that's not fair.. to play fair, keep it stock, then see what happens... maybe they can try a 450bhp M3 SC'ed .. then mod's versus mod..

Fact is all those GT-R guys have reap more power till 400bhp to just eat other cars.. so here's the fact.. ask them will that 400bhp to take a corner or a fast left turn... the M3 will pass it without a sweat... maybe not for a GT-R..

So, lesson here and my opinion,

Have both the cars, a e60 and a GT-R.. one a NA n' the other is a Turbo..

As for the GT-R, keep it standard.

just some comments,

having owned the normal m3 and the csl, the csl is a track machine.. the engine response, dynamics and throttle play are superb, better than the normal m3 by at least 25-30%, hence able to compete with the 4wd gtr on track.. on the other hand, i can say that the normal m3 is more refined all-around.. not the fastest, yet the most 'complete' car in the class.. hands down.. :top:

on the other hand, is the gtr.. i was really contemplating of getting one.. i had one for a week, it's a love and hate relationship.. on stock form, blah... engine is lazy, not until the turbo kicks in.. not to mention the interior!! steering feel is also compromised due to 4wd.. but exterior, something that is worth mentioning to people below 35..

that car now has 600Whp, bigger turbos etc.. the pull is superb.. even a porsche turbo would be embarrassed.. 180kmh (unless u have nismo gauge) would come in no time.. just crazy fast.. but again, low end.. blah.. oh, not to mention, the twin plate clutch biting point is crazily compromised, definitely something u wont/cant be driving daily.. also, fuel would run down by half after like 20 mins of hard driving!!! and u HAVE to fill up, else u get fuel starvation due to high g-force! :smokin:

best choice, get a nur-spec, or the stroked 2.8 tomei.. factory engineered, more enjoyable, reliable and drivable car.. at 330k for either one, get the tomei.. even low end torque is much improved.. would i get one? DEFINITELY! :top: then again, since the new m3 and gtr is around, i might just save up and get either one of those later..

p/s: let me know if u want the r34.. will get you in touch with the correct people.. if u plan to mod, get a stock gtr, non v-spec even, yr 99, selling 190k!! dump 40-50k, fairly good enuff!

oh dude, for a toy/touge car.. would u consider the s2k? even more pocket change! :top:

e92,

well, to get 600bhp out from a RB26 is not that hard after all. many kind of setups. Responsive with loads of low end torque for fast track, to somekind more g-force pull feeling single turbine setup, well, single turbine will usually have more power then tht ar around 700bhp.
As minivan might have thought, RB26 is tough...but really, i think its a sissy, at least in the heavy mods point of view. Supra's 2JZ, is a rock.
Here are some my experinces.

I used to have my GTR33 modded to 981whp, with 810 on 4 wheel, at around 85kg/m torque, running PowerFC, T88H single turbine, full fuel system, OS cross gear 1-3, JUN conrods, JUN 87mm piston, NISMO bearings, cams, gasket...etc etc..cost me around 65K to do so during that time. Well, the car is of course driveable, but i wouldnt wanna drive it now if i have choice. I drove the car back to Kedah many times, and even up to Genting sometimes. Go to Sepang for 10.3ET quarter mile with nothing more then a set of 17" Silverstone tarmac slick.

but then, this is too much for road use, any B16 on the road can tapau me like nobody's business as i will have to wait for my RPM to climb up to around 4500rpm. So, not a good options for daily use.

As for my R34 now, simple. A set of Tomei cams, rather mild, stock internals with thicker head gasket, a pair of lil' poony GT-ss turbine, managed by FConVpro, easily give just over 500.3bhp on rear 2 wheels.
low end torque and power is great, the cars feels more awake to be driven around in town. Eat porsche? well, is ok to say so.

Just however, i think, u should give the Nissan a try at least to own it for once. Then u'll know the different world we get in BMWs and JDMs...

Tony, you selling the R34 then?

My friend only managed to squeezed out 440hp at the rear wheels with the similar set up you have but he got oil/water pump upgraded.

hi Chelsea,

ya, will sell the R34 indeed. A fren of mine in my hometown is getting it away from me. But then again, found it rather hard to get the M3 out.

e92,
see? :) compare the re selling of both the cars, u know which would be easier now..

A good condition R34 is still in demand.

Not to offend any UDM or M3 lover, E46 M3 "was" more of a showcase tool, to me!!

How come the E46 M3 is so hard to shift? Even the one local to me has been for sale since 2006

I am sorry to say that the E46 M3 is dated, and expensive. For that kind of money, 250 - 300k, I'll definitely go for GTR V Spec II.

Yes the M3 is getting on a bit, but even tho its around 7 years old now, I still love the look of it

Personally, I'd go for the M3 over the GTR. I prob wont be able to race with a modified GTR, but that doesnt really bother me :)

Owning a GTR as a daily driver, especially one with a fair amount of horsepower is not really practical. That's just my opinion, granted my R34 is not as powerful as Tony's but 520hp at the wheels does keep you on your toes especially in bad weather. Plus, if you have to meet clients, etc I guess turning up in an R34GTR doesn't help your image.

Before buying the GTR, I did look at an M3 and even a 911 Turbo to replace my 350z but to be perfectly honest; and I know this won't sit well with M3 owners; I wasn't a fan of the SMG. As advanced as it may be, I guess I'm just old fashioned. Plus at the time, there was a lack of good condition M3s around. As for the 911, after doing the math it just didn't seem like a good idea.

Tony5050 - I even bumped into you while car shopping at Tenaga Wan Bersaudara in TTDI, I don't know if you remember me. You knew my cousin who lives in Alor Setar with the R34GTR M-Spec Nur.

hi Pimpin,

ya, u must be the guy who sold ur Black 350Z and bought the fully loaded Blue R34. Is good to see you here. Getting a new car soon, i sometimes see your car in KL too though, once at the Imbi mall valet perking..:)
